The word "hot" is seriously an understatement. Smug

Also, while I do agree that people don't need to make videos in order to donate, that most of the time it's for the sole purpose of getting those 15 minutes of fame, I still believe that it's the best way to attract more people into getting more funds for the ALS Association. People will challenge their friends, some of whom will actually get interested in this disease and actually donate. However, I'm gonna guess that this "fad" or whatever you can call it will soon dissappear, the same way "harlem shake" vanished (I know, bad comparison, maybe not even a good example, but still), people will just lose interest, sadly. (I seriously hope this does not happen, and people will do other challenges concerning other diseases that have no cure, but I sincerely doubt it)

In the end, who cares about the videos, as long as people donate. They can do whatever the fuck they want in those videos for all I care to be honest.

Good luck in the future when they need more donations and nobody cares anymore, since there will be no new fad to keep it going

Newsflash: No one was donating money to ALS before this campaign. Because no one knew or cared about ALS.

ALS Association 2013 Tax Return: Jane H. Gilbert – President and CEO – $339,475.00. Over 50% of what the ALS Association receives appears to support salaries of people working for the Association.

http://www.alsa.org/assets/pdfs/form-20990-20-20f2014-20irs-20sgd-2006-11-2014.pdf

340.000$ per year for the ALS president. Though this may be "normal" i think its quite... not.

B-b-b-b-but how!?! Surely they couldn't have earned any money in prior years because no one donated, due to a total lack of awareness cause by a severe lack of viral videos with various durps crapping ice buckets over their head for popularity/likes/tweets/reshpect/lulz/etc.

It's clearly about people being on camera and putting ice on their heads. Not ALS. Awareness has spread, and now people know but will continue not to care. Short term thinking & planning at its best.

How about you actually look shit up before you make shit up?

Quote:

As of Monday, August 25, The ALS Association has received $79.7 million in donations compared to $2.5 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 25). These donations have come from existing donors and 1.7 million new donors to The Association.

So angsty

Perhaps you can show me where I can see the donations from every single person who did the ice bucket challenge, just so I can 'look shit up' and keep myself informed, I mean, that's what the image is referring to after all, so let's do it properly.

Let us also wait a few years to see the long term effects, if there are any.

And no matter how much you try to rationalise your tolerance for dead shits who abuse a condition to promote their own self admiration, it won't change the fact that I fucking hate those people. It seems like you've been trying to skew the original post and what I was complaining about to begin with, so if you want to keep reading the same thing from me over and over, keep going. First and third posts, you can't miss 'em.

It says so right there, 1.7 million different donations, you get a pretty good average right there. The rest of your whiny meandering I'll gladly do without.
