It crashed and burned in the east so with what we know with how the west deals with asian mmo's and how they turn out I hold no hope at all for this one.
I tried it close beta. Questing is boring. Story is traditional Japanese / Korean nonsense. Combat is like in classic mmo I don;t like it. You will fight with one mob at time and it will take you some time to kill it.
I like RPG system and picking 3 classes that cool and interesting.
In terms of graphic is below average characters look average animation is average but environment is boring. I don't think this game is worth paying. As a P2P game is below average and as a F2P is just terrible. SandBox element aka Farmville simulator are locked behind P2P system.
There is a lot much better F2P and P2P games to play. Just play Farmvile .
I guess anything with good combat (more action oriented like you said) and fun quests would do.
I like leveling and exploring the world. (I already have guild wars 2 btw)
Never Winter Online have good combat but rpg system is average. Well there is story NWO with voice acting but it's dragon and dungeons i found i boring and skip dialog... Some quest are interesting and funny.
In action MMO there is Vindictus i heard that combat in Terra is interesting.
I too have GW2 very good MMO, end game is boring...
You could always give Defiance and Planetside 2 a go. As action gameplay goes.
For exploring the only things I really liked in all the years: Star Wars Galaxies (You could play SWG emu), Everquest 2, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes and Elder Scrolls Online. Most are very sub par in that field. Guess WoW isn't too bad in world size, just that it caters less to exploring.
Archage is a lot more lifeless compared to the previous ones I mentioned.
Something else I enjoyed that was free: Age of Conan, but it ran like a dog on my fiancee pc so we gave that one up and never got back to it after I bought her a better GPU.
Don't really get why Never Winter Online gets mentioned so much when people talk about F2P, sure it's one of the newer ones, but older games that gone F2P surpass it. To me it felt like a cheaper version of Warhammer Online and that wasn't a big success either.
The MMO genre isn't all that atm. At least for me.

Defiance isn't too bad for a F2P...reminds me most of Borderlands type play, so it's good with friends.
Planetside 2 is awesome and reminds me most of the BF1942 multi-player, which was always a blast. However, it is a very challenging game that takes at least 100 hours of play for you to get good enough (with enough unlocks as well) not to die within 3 microseconds of spawning.
I don't like the general Asian theme but the gameplay elements are outstanding. Has tons of crafting, and the ship aspects are pretty awesome.
I can see why it failed in Korea given that it doesn't play like the typical Korean favorite MMO's. The Asian market doesn't like sandbox MMO's like this much.

Fail is a big word, it doesn't do as well as they hoped (a lot have wow numbers in their head). But it's still making money and doing good. Just that they lost a bunch due to the 1.2 patch but that's already restoring.
It's not going to be as successful in the west as they thought either. It's going to generate buzz and then it will die down in a few months. Trion did way too little to westernize it, talked more about it than actually doing it.
That being said, they'll make money and it will stick around as in: I don't see it fail. I won't be playing this tho, added everything up and there isn't really convincing me after 50 hours in beta. I see enough troubles down the road to not invest in this game.
Quick summary: best way to get important crafting competent is to give money to Trion.
As someone who got the archeum pack when 1.2 was already live, I never got to play during the golden days. I only crafted a single item by the time I hit 46. One. A flute. I maybe had the mats for 2 or 3 more level 20-24 items, but that's it. I far outleveled anything I could've made, so I never bothered with crafting.
This annoyed me. I like crafting my own gear while I level up, but as it was, that was completely impossible. You can craft one or two things, and then crafting only comes back in endgame, where you can farm archeum while not outleveling what you can craft, since you're at max.
This was something that needed fixing in my eyes, and I'm extremely butthurt that this is where it's going. It hits me as a ploy to try to extract as much money as possible during the headstart from the 'whales'. They already gave you 150$, so hey, they might shell out more on those labor pots and archeum boxes! And when the general population gets in, there will suddenly be a fix.
If that's not even the case, I don't see how I'll be playing this for longer than the patron period I've already got thanks to my pack.. I'm not double dipping, paying for patron for housing AND paying to get my labor and mats, and will not support a company that clearly wants me to do this. And while I probably have enough gold by then to buy APEX, it's still a matter of principle.
I have some hope that this isn't Trion, since I liked their Rift F2P stuff.. but I'm still scarred and won't trust their name implicitly again. (never played defiance)
I played on closed beta/alpha and was loving the game, after reading the direction this game is taking and it becoming nothing more than a cash cow I lost all hope for a sandbox MMO like the good old days of SWG
Well it was fairly obvious from the first hour this was no where near the crafting system in SWG and in all honesty I don't think we will ever see it again since the whole harvesting and more systems were linked into it.
My advice: just play SWGemu Crafting and Harvesting system works fine in it.
under the galleons there is a tank, taking the hits, and few healers to patch him up.
at 30% of life that motherfucker just regenerate like 1% of life every second, so is a race against the clock.
this is the final phase of the fight, before this, there was more people getting beated(mostly people not at 50th level), ship repositions and more.
