It looks awesome! But the intro for MGS 2 did that as wll, for its time. And the intro for MGS2 was realtime as well..

I do beleive that this game will be awesome and I do beleive that this is realtime. But it is a scripted movie/intro, realtime or not.. This is not gameplay! When we se that; then we can comment the graphics. Its a huge difference watching the MGS2 intro and actually playing the game... Too much hype these days

I dont agree on that at all.
Since kojima is most likley going with the new 3d camera in mgs4, I think this trailer shows very much how it will look while playing. The other games looked different (they weren't different, but looked different) in gameplay compared to the intro and cutscenes because the play camera was up in the air and the intro/cutscene camera were not, this will not be the case here (I dont see why he wouldn't use the 3d camera since mgs3s will have it).

you say yourself "when it comes to MGS I cant be objective".

That is correct, but this is not a "MGS" specific mather, this is a technical mather and just an overall view on graphics and why they may look like this when playing.
The game is set with a 3D camera (most likley), the trailer is shot with 3D views, I dont see why it wouldn't look like this? Smile It will obviously look even better than this, it's after all 2 years away.

but palleburn. you can't mean that gameplay will look like this trailer? I'm not thinking about polygons and textures. A game cannot be played and look like a actionfilm at the same time. 3D camera or not.

Cutscenes and scripted movies always looks awesome in modern' games. We may argue about this forever.. We just have to wait and see...

You are talking about GAMEPLAY now, and I'm still talking about the graphics and the visual experience.
Of course it will not play like the trailer, but the GRAPHICAL experience will be the same, it wouldn't make any sense whatsoever if it didn't since it uses a camera that let's you see the enviroment much better than in previous metal gear games.

The first person part of the trailer, take that part but put a dude that is running in third person instead, and you shuld get a good view on how it will look when you play it. Smile

Grave digging time Very Happy

Replaying mgs4, damn the gameplay of this game got old, I feel that mgs1 or 2 would be more playable now than mgs4. I've killed that octo laughing chick and finished idiotic "find naomi" location. Beginning was nice but it quickly become very lame - little, closed locations with inifinite respawning enemies, that jungle segment was annoying, it almost made no sense at all, both fighting sides endlessly killing each other while all you have to do is just run to the point X.

I dont remember mgs3 really well but i think that both mgs 1 and 2 had better gameplay and better constructed locations. First reall boss (octopuss chick) felt boring and that turret shooting sequence was just pathetic tbh.

Does it get better later on?

Its more about experience than gameplay to be honest. One of the most epic battles are later in the game from Act 3

I know, mgs games were always like that, more or less. But gameplay in this one really feels aged. Mgs1 and 2 had that great feeling, infiltration, stealth, exploration, this one feels like fake open locations when all you have to do really is to go to the X mark on the map because there is no point in fighting endless waves of respawning enemies Sad

This mgs is easily the worst. The game gets only good at the end of Act3 with act 4+5 being epic. Act 5 is truly epic.

The rest is meh and the gameplay does indeed suck (really old, but mgs2 gameplay is terrible too nowadays...)

That being said it's worth playing for act4 and 5. The rest you can pass, sadly you d have to pass on the story too....

Well I'll just run through those bullshit locations and watch cutscenes. Mgs3 had simmilar setting (fake open jungle locations) but afair it wasnt that bad. I think that introducing those fake 2 sides of conflict ruined it, previously you had only one side of enemies, in most cases if you killed them they will be gone, and now those 2 sides endlessly fight each other making killing them absolute nonsense.

I really liked previous mgs games but this one is dissapointing, funny thing is I watched few reviews before playing it and everyone was praising it as the best one and so on. Oh well... Sad

Yes MGS 4 is the worst MGS ever. Even the bosess are boring. The end-plot is good though.

Apart from Peace Walker i've thoroughly enjoyed every single MSG. While the 4th was more of a movie, it was awesome still.

Finished it, in terms of gameplay definitely weakest of the all main four mgs games, some moments were annoying as fuck (that ship bow in the last act, what the fuck they were thinking).

Only real great thing in mgs4 was the shadow moses location, but its only a location, nostalgia factor and memories. The gameplay in it was weak, filled with those hand-like robots, they could do so much more in that place. 7/10 for mgs fans, 6-5.5/10 for everyone else.

Also I love whole mgs lore, storytelling and other typical kojima trolling bullshit but this time they went a little bit too far with that, and the cutscenes, at some moments its like 15-20 minutes of gameplay and 30-40 minutes of cutscenes...

For 3rd one? You can definitely play that, one of the best mgs games out there. I would replay that on hd collection for ps3 if I havent already finished it on ps3, its a pity that they didnt include mgs1 in that collection.
