That'll be because they don't give a shit thanks to our brilliant law
Legally they're (and I'm almost quoting the law now ) "obliged to respond to DMCA requests in a reasonable timeframe, after which they [the file/hosting provider] may start to investigate"
So what Tweak do is respond to DMCA requests somewhere within a work week after which their "investigation" begins. They know they can't do shit against them anyway; the US companies would have to go through some organisation here. Only one we really have is BREIN and while they're assholes, they're also realising they can't win the war since even our ISPs fight them. So they have decided to go after uploaders rather than downloaders or providers.

... :/
I use theCubeNet - it`s a highwinds reseller.
I never had a problem with takedowns - there are a lot of communities where you can get the "coded" stuff. Just random filenames, all password-protected rars.

I dont have a problem generally, but I use sickbeard and couchpotato and my indexer.
obviously I have the odd thing that fails, but overall I rarely have to turn to torrents.

Everything's on usenet just fine. I still don't use torrents, at all. Don't even have a client for them installed. As long as you've got access to one of the private indexers, there's not really any issues. Quite the opposite, I've had times where Sickbeard added an NZB before it had fully propagated through to my news servers

there are several boards here in germany (well, not in germany most likely - but german) where you can find almost everything. movies, ebooks, games, software, series, porn, consoles, etc... everything you want. Its "hidden" and you have to push a "thanks" button to get the link.
They are private - sort of. you often don`t need an invite. they just link to common indexers like nzbindex, nzbclub, etc.
But like i said - filenames are only garbage - like "SENQb4EwbeGLJeDazDa9sJY73FRPIZNkloD"
and password protected. unique password for each upload.
They do this since several years - I even think many are run by usenet providers themself. Well wouldn`t be a surprise at least.
I never had a problem finding anything. Even 2-3 year old stuff is still up.
edit
not hard to find at all - just tried an obvious google search - the first link is a blog, that links to several good boards.

Well, if anyone was on Tweaknews, it was bought by Highwind.
http://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/comments/2svrxc/happy_new_year_from_highwinds_and_tweaknews/
New terms and conditions, privacy policy, webpage, login and password and now they aquire some data about the connection, your personal data etc.
So you might want to bail or something.

So I will post here too.
Any alternative to Giganews/Astraweb/Highwinds?
Tweaknews is a DMCA fuck fest right now.

Sorry for necro, but I think the thread fits. Does anybody use Newshosting? I am currently on usenet.nl but my contract is running out. I was specifically wondering about the abuse/takedown activity of Newshosting. I previously used Eweka and usenet.nl and was fine with them.

Easynews here and have been for about 7 years, no issues, no major price increase and best of all great retention.
Having said that, I do not really download stuff that I guess is likely to be taken down quickly, major movies etc. They don't interest me. So I honestly cannot say if Easynews is any good for those.
