This is a huge opportunity for him (lead character in a movie for once), hope everything goes well, because the premises are good..if not great, imo. Very Happy

makes me laugh how skilfully the trailer skitters around a rather important plot point just for the target audience Smile

Had forgotten about The Fifth Estate Sad ..but, I want to give him another chance! Laughing (He actually didn't do bad in that movie as far as I remember, it was the rest that was rather underwhelming). Oh well, we'll see. Razz

I wonder if Poland will get some credit in the movie for cracking it first (before the code became more sophisticated) :
"German military texts enciphered on the Enigma machine were first broken by the Polish Cipher Bureau, beginning in December 1932. This success was a result of efforts by three Polish cryptologists, Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki and Henryk Zygalski, working for Polish military intelligence. Rejewski "reverse-engineered" the device, using theoretical mathematics and material supplied by French military intelligence. Subsequently the three mathematicians designed mechanical devices for breaking Enigma ciphers, including the cryptologic bomb. From 1938 onwards, additional complexity was repeatedly added to the Enigma machines, making decryption more difficult and necessitating larger numbers of equipment and personnel—more than the Poles could readily produce."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enigma_machine

I understand that the movie will focus on life of Turing and his struggle after the war. Still, the plot synopsis sounds like he cracked the enigma single-handedly.

Try asking an American on who cracked the Enigma Machine.

They will say it was the British.

Always puzzles me, but I believe that what it says in history books in High School in US. Can
t really remember anymore.

I've read they kinda fucked up Turing's personality. Cumberbitch Very Happy practically played BBC's Sherlock whereas Turing was nothing like Sherlock + it has some historical inaccuracies.

All that and ofc it has the usual cliches(until the last minute, the epiphany stuff, the hard nosed boss, etc etc), unfortunately.
