How's the companion AI in this if I want to play alone - completely retarded, or do they hold their own?

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

No companion AI that I've seen, when you play alone you play alone. I think co-op is only for human players.

I've only played through 3 "dungeons" (though progress isn't saved if you go back to the Hub, it starts you right back at level 1 again.. bah) but yes, it seems like a blast Smile

Well after playing for about 45 mins...Wasnt what i was expecting couple of thing through me off

1.The move set is limted so far per character..although u get pickups and what not.
2.The characters are to tiny as someone said.
3.Theres this weird film over top of the game.Tryed it on my lappy first then my desktop horrible on my lappy just blurry as hell..My desktop it was somewhat clear but u could still see it.
4.Huge amount of the same enemies coming and coming..1 or 2 different ones but mostly the same.
5.Its not boring as its a good time waster but repetitive

Overall good buy for $20.00 Co-OP Fix

Is this worth getting for single player playthrough? I remember Gauntlet as a definite coop game for the best fun.

I've had a lot of fun with it, but it depends on your mindset. I'm very anti-MP in general, so I have more fun playing alone Wink

Hehe, it was exactly like this Very Happy In fact, from what I've played so far; this is even tamer than the original .. the original had a couple of enemy types that attacked you in groups of 20-30 and they spawned really quickly too, whereas the new one throws in a few different enemy types at once but in really small batches. Admittedly this is based on my playing Normal difficulty, I imagine it's much worse as you increase.

Played with my co-worker last night and we cleared the first and second dungeon. Don't really like the potions for relic use though. Would be nice if the ye olde boots o' flame for the Elf were available all the time with a cool-down. Still, brings back memories of the original arcade game.

Death can be a bitch though. Good thing you can run circles around him Very Happy

Heh.
(Although I have no idea what equipment is actually useful for, there's no stats so I assume it's just for player customization, primarily in co-op sessions.)

EDIT:
(The Valkyrie kinda looks like a man, guess that's what happens when nearly every other game uses the chainmail-bikini style for armor and supermodel like appearance, this here actually looks like a fighter.)

Yeah, I think you're right.. it's just for customisation. Only relics and Masteries have any kind of game/character altering functionality

Probably been asked before but is it not possible to remap the keys? I can't use WASD, and i can't see the option to do so anywhere

Sorry Reg, I really don't know. I've been using my PS3 controller Smile Looking on the Steam forum shows a lot of unhappy players, it seems you can't remap and the only way is to use something like XPadder/Autohotkey/etc.

Currently not possible but you could write a simple AutoHotkey script to remap keys quite easily.

I've just finished the entire game playing co-op with a friend in 8 hours. I played Valkyrie and he switched from Warrior to Elf. Very good fun for what it is, although too short for my liking.

I question the replayability value of the game given that it looks like they intend you to replay it a lot with all the Masteries and different tiers. Also there's no where near enough money to buy the top tier of a certain relic plus the different armour.

I can see a lot of DLC coming for this game, much like Magicka, but hopefully they'll add more dungeons rather than cosmetic trash.
