TXAA continues to look like shit, surprising no one. PCSS seems great though, hopefully the performance impact is not too high. Nice use of tesselation too.

TXAA Reaction

I'll be using temporal smaa, just like in Watch_Dogs.

It will have temp SMAA? Great news if so!

I wonder why they compared TXAA to FXAA instead of SMAA.

Dead Kings

Quote:
The Season Pass will take you from the bloody streets of revolutionary Paris to the troubled city of Saint Denis in Assassin’s Creed Unity Dead Kings, a new story campaign that takes place after the events of Unity. Arno leaves Paris seeking isolation and finds himself wrapped up in the mysteries surrounding Saint Denis. Explore the city’s extensive underground with Arno’s lantern. Beware the animals wandering in the darkness…

Arm yourself with Arno’s explosive new Guillotine Gun and take on the secretive Raider faction that’s desecrating the catacombs. Discover new side missions (in addition to the main DLC story content) and solve puzzles in the depths of the catacombs. The Dead Kings DLC also grants you access to three new missions in Paris, including co-op.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China

Quote:
Take your adventure beyond France to a new standalone story set in 16th century China starring Shao Jun, a fan-favorite from the Assassin’s Creed Embers animated movie. Trained by Ezio Auditore, Shao Jun has returned to Beijing as the last remaining Assassin of the Chinese Brotherhood. Hell-bent on revenge, she will strike out against those who destroyed her Brotherhood.

Experience an entirely new setting for the franchise in a beautifully stylized world inspired by traditional brush paintings. Shao Jun’s powerful martial arts skills and new Assassin gear like the Jian Sword and the Foot Blade will allow her to eliminate her targets from the shadows or take on groups in all-out combat. Explore legendary landmarks like the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City and encounter famous historical figures in this new 2.5D digital download title. Coming early 2015 and developed by Climax.

"may be coming" - Ubisoftish
may·be·co·ming
ˈmeɪ bi kʌmɪŋ/

A phrase most often used by Ubisoft PR spokesperson to refer to the PC version of a product, when in fact it's already in the works.

Example:

Quote:
"The PC version of The Division may be coming to PC, if enough people want it.

*Two months later*

After receiving tons of support from our fans, we're excited to announce the PC version of The Division, coming out at the same time as the console versions.

Thank you for using UbiDictionary.

These AC games have been in production for years. You dont just start developing it for the pc after the announcment. If they are ever going to release it for the PC - the port (more like simultaneous development) is underway. If not - theyd never even mention these mythical requests.

The team had to re-evaluate what they’d done in previous games. “If you look at the past ACs, mostly when you are playing a mission, it’s like ‘go over there, open that door, follow that guy and kill him.’ You know, it was really like breadcrumb objectives… so the first thing we did was remove those mid-path objectives so players could do what they want.”

This was more challenging that it might seem, as Christophe explains, “The first thing we had to do was break our own habits, because, as Level Designers, we’re used to helping the player navigate their objectives. So, we have to give the player a playground, what we’ve been calling a ‘black box’ and just let the player play. Now, we tell you ‘go kill that guy’ and then it’s up to you to figure out how to do it.”

(...)“We apply this to ACU by providing huge locations, both interiors and exteriors, and we give only one objective to the player… but they can have many different skills and tools, so we force ourselves to design for all the skills and tools while not requiring any specific tool to complete an objective.”

Dayum and I already thought the previously AC games were great when it comes to a free-roaming open world, that's what's made me really enjoy nearly the whole series. Now this one is looking even better than it already was Me Gusta
