I just downloaded the latest official drivers from nVidia, and they solved all the problems I've had for about a year now. I used to get flashing lines in my games, and I had to run everything on the lowest settings to be able to play. With the new drivers, I've seen some major enhancements.

My measly setup:

AMD 1600+ @ 1.2 GHz
512 MB RAM
64 MB GeForce3Ti200

Improvements:

When I played Doom3 before installing the latest drivers, I played with graphics on low at 800x600, and I would get lines across the screen and all kinds of artefacts. With the new drivers I can play with graphics on high at 800x600 and it runs smoothly without any graphical glitches at all.

I used to play Sniper: Elite at 1024x768 with no antialiasing or any of the "fancy" stuff, at "best performance"-setting. Now I play it at 1024x768 with "best quality"-setting, and although the 4x anti-aliasing is a bit heavy for my poor computer at times, it's fully playable, since it's not a game that requires 1000 fps to be playable. If I reduce the anti-aliasing I'm sure it will run smooth as silk.

I plan on installing Half-Life 2 again this evening, to see what kind of results I get there. That was a game that I really had to play at the lowest setting, but I suspect I'll be able to enjoy nicer graphics without glitches with these new drivers.

All I can say is that if you've got an older card like I do (though you all seem to have supercomputers with quadruple 3d-cards), get the new drivers ASAP.

Updating drivers is kinda standard procedure as soon as they get released actually...
Guess why they release new ones, to solve old problems... Shocked

Yes, but guess why I got the problems in the first place, brainac. Because I installed new drivers. And I'm sure not everyone's like you, checking your card manufacturer's website for new official drivers every day...

if everything's working fine without updating drivers then why bother updating? (if it aint broke dont fix it!). i dont update my drivers until i really, really have to.

i was using 6month old ati drivers, for example.

yeah fine, that's when i feel i "really, really have to" - what i mean is that if i haven't experienced any problems, and the drivers dont offer any benefits that i require, i dont update just for the sake of updating.

If you play new games yes, if you play older games, you are mostly better off with older drivers, performance might be worse.

Not allways the case,,,,,Ive often had to revert back to an older driver because the newer drivers would make the graphics look strange in some games...
A good one for me to test is farcry...
But i allways try the newer drivers first.......

So goes to prove newer drivers dont allways solve old problems.

Exactly. My card worked fine when I bought it (used comupter, old drivers). After two updates, it went to hell, and I had no idea what version the original drivers were.
