It installed. Well, it is very rough around the edges, but that's to be expected. The new icons are terribly ugly. I mean really terrible.

There are very ugly shadows for each window now. And some very slow fade in and out animations when opening.

Snap has 4 modes now, which I like very much.

Sooo.. obviously I installed it.

Its pretty decent. Not much has changed since 8.1 - It feels more like the desktop OS Windows 8 should have been but frankly I had little issue with 8. The multiple desktops is interesting (although nothing new), I need to test it more to see if I'd actually use it or not (probably at work, but not at home, I have enough screen real-estate to need multi desktop). The start menu provides no additional functionality over the 8.1 menu, its just smaller, I don't really have a preference either way but I guess this one at least looks nicer.

New icons, greater integration (more settings in the metro-esque settings menu for example), but ultimately at this stage its 8.1 with a different start menu and some minor additional features.

I didn't hate the icons, I like them better than the older ones but they could do with some more work I guess. The new animations felt a little pointless but they're nice enough. I need to try out the new SNAP stuff.

Grabbed WindowsTechnicalPreview-x64-EN-GB.iso.

Installed on latest VMware.

Running off i5 8GB RAM laptop from 2011 using SATA2 on Samsung 840 EVO 512GB SSD .

Installed very quickly and runs like butter. Seems very quick but then again Windows 8/8.1 was fast.

So far liking it but unsure how major enterprises will as this will be my bread and butter for the next many years as corps go from W7->10 in 1-2 years from now. Razz

playing a bit in my oracle vm machine.
i hate the rewamped start menu. that metro crap is still shit and useless, even in that form.
appstore/metro apps are in a window, but i dont use it anyway.
at this time i see no reason to move from 8.1 + startisback.

HAAAAAAAAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Anyways, those who gets the Preview let me know of the following (Even if it's a preview)

1.Whenever you install W10 for the first time, check if you REALLY ARE THE ADMIN after the installation and if you can directly login to the desktop once you start up/restart the PC (Blank password,no need to click on an user to login..Aka press the tower's Power button and boop!,desktop!!).. Aka Disable UAC and see if you can edit, for example, the HOSTS file in the Windows folder WITHOUT RIGHT CLICKING ON IT TO GET THE ADMIN OPTION and then Save without getting any "oh nononono, you can't touch that" message. Windows 7 Style!

2.Check if there's no HIDDEN ADMIN Account after step 1 (Else it's gonna be a pain in the ass)

3.... Windows Media Player?

4.Pressing the Windows key (without editing any taskbar option) sends you directly to the Start Menu (NOT the Screen one!!).

5.Screenshots for Start Menu having normal and "Smaller" icons...Among other screenshots from the OS's features and stuff.

...That's all for now....Thanks in advance...

1-> i always password my account, and use cotrol userpasswords2 to autologin.
in this form, i have a user fr0ggy, passworded, which autolog.
administrator user is there and disabled by default.
you canot modify host/system files directly. and i actually like that way.
2-> of course it is an administrator account, and is disabled.

3-> ver 12.0.9841.0
4-> yeh, and there is a option use start menu instead of start screen. default is start menu.
5-> normal is in screenshot in my previous post
if i put the smaller icon, start menu remain the same like in screenshot in that post, taskbar becomes 50% smaller.

In that case, what should you do if you wanna edit the hosts file via a .bat file to block Adobe's IPs?...run the bat file as an Admin?.. Or run that newest Adobe Patch for all versions being opened as Admin?..Everything,OFCOURSE,done in the only/first user account you do..

just curious coz Photoshop + Illustrator + Premiere Pro in their CC 2014 versions are the stuff that i mostly use now...And wanna save myself some drama from going from W7 to W10 and "SURPRISE!,FAIL!"

Thanks in advance

Make the string "Windows Nine". There, the code works now, no compatibility issues.

This isn't a reason to skip to 10.

It's as logical as going XP -> 2003 -> Vista -> 7, i.e. makes no sense, nor should anyone really care.

I actually liked the name "Vista". 7 and 8 are boring.

I installed CC14 on to win8 last month and i just ran .bat file as admin, alternative is to edit hosts file manually, both ways work fine. I'm sure it is same on win10.
