I have seen them run plenty of plays.
but id still say they mostly go freestyle
HOWEVER, da czar, sim nation leader, was hired by 2k a year ago, and has developed unique freestyle AI offensive movements, design to be always running. theres videos on youtube breaking them down.
so you dont notice when they dont run plays as much, cause their movement is more dynamic, very little standing still for 12 seconds (none that i have seen so far actually, although i have seen it very scarcely in some gameplay videos.)
I really love the D this year. You need to be cautious and smooth. You also need to know the attacking strengths of each matchup or else you will be beaten on foot planting and speed. Also as I mentioned some days ago the Freelance offense is the best feature this year. Czar made a great job indeed.

um defence is absolutely horrible, having defending player glued to offensive player wasnt good either, but when AI can outrun you any time is just as bad
One sidestep by attacking player and suddenly your player looses its defensive stance and opponent just runs by. Adding fact that player movement feels like hes swimming, makes defence even harder, if you could call it harder, I would say its poor design.

It's not harder, it's realistic. Just use smoothly the L analog, don't sprint and hold LT with R analog at times to stop the drives. If you're still having problems go to controller settings and raise the help D slider which is at 0 by default.
In 2k14 it was easy to play defense and shut down the opponent stars. Now everything matters and you'll be punished if your defensive stance is bad.
I'm sure you'll get used to it and eventually you'll see that the D is perfect this year.
I'm glad I waited for isodemo before buying. The last nba 2k I bought was 2k12 for the legends mode, which was a bad idea too.
2k15 fixed a lot of gameplay problems since last year, but some slipped under the radar. For example cpu block leads to fast break dunk cheese all over again. Overall it's another step in the right direction, but far from a true inovation.
Also 2k15 has different file structure and all of the old modding tools won't work, so the community won't be releasing fixes and roster files since day 1. It would help evaluate the shortcomings of the game better I guess.
you mean fast breaks lead to dunks? cause thats one hundred percent realistic.
blocks are random and very rarely lead to fast breaks for me. plus you should not be getting blocked that often if you play offense smartly and take good shots.
if you dont have it on all-star and sim in the least, then ill guess that's also adding to the problem.
this is a hardcore basketball game, sure you can have a game as a casual, but if you ant to truly want it to play rewardingly and realistically, you need to be a hardcore basketball fan, and play to real life.

I'm talking about the speed of the cpu players on the fast break after a block. They are faster than usual. It's the same cheating like last year and the year before.
What you're saying is individual for every player's style of play. For the last six years I play only with custom sliders (based on the game's simulation default ones), 12qtrs and hall of fame difficulty. For the limited amount of matches I played this year so far with the default sliders there were too much offensive rebounds for the cpu, too many blocked shots (player sliding from previous years), too many dunks in traffic, etc.
Also cpu players in this edition are again more agile than the user controlled ones, they stick to your player like glue on defense. An athletic pg should run circles around 7 foot center 1 on 1. On the other hand guarding cpu pg's is really hard if you don't rely on playing zone and double teams. Man to man feels awkward and slow this year.
Finally I got to play the game for a while (better late than never is my motto xD). Only a few quick matches and some MyCareer with the default cocky guy for now (whom I'm already in love-hate relationship with).
I like it, even though perhaps the generational jump (or so they call it) could have been...meatier.
The gameplay feels definitely more refined and complete than the previous versions released on PC though, there's better spacing, the several new animations grant a more realistic team-play and presentation, there are smoother transitions and action feels more physical overall. Offense generally seems deeper (which means I'll have to play the tutorial again to re-master everything *curses*), same for the defense.
I found the AI smarter/better positioned as well, even though the "subtle" cheating is still there like you guys mentioned. Nothing close to ye ol' old infamous uber-fast catch-up w/ weird supermen routines and doesn't occur too often.. but it's there.
The atmosphere is really nice this year, more dynamic and alive, the performance on the other hand is...a black box for me unfortunately. The culprit as usual is the low amount of vram of my 570 which causes stuttering if I select high textures (on medium everything is fine-ish). Anyway, fingers crossed for some good mods in the future!

Hrmmmmm
What is your AA level set at?
I actually had to disable it in order to avoid more drops with v-sync enabled. On the highest details (plus AA) my 1280ish MB are definitely not enough, sadly. Only medium textures can "fix" the stuttering, it's really time for me to scrape the bottom of the barrel* and grab a new video card before the end of the year. [melancholic background music]

Just experienced the first case of gang bang on the court, Leonard was chasing the ball, and they took him literally.
I think I might be buying this soon. A PC Patch this early is nothing short of a miracle (the fact that there's a PC patch alone almost is ), and from the look of things there will be more to come as Leftos from NLSC seems to be pretty involved

Under "%appdata%\2K Sports\NBA 2K15\" you'll find a file called VideoSettingsHelp.txt, containing instructions on how to mess around with the VideoSettings.cfg file if you're feeling adventurous. A set of new tweaking options was added to the file, and all settings, new and old, have descriptions in the help file along with the values and what each one does, as well as helpful recommendations based on your system.
Small correction to VideoSettingsHelp.txt (thanks jay-r): The explanation for the EFFECTLOD setting is reversed. 0 is ON, 1 is OFF.
If the game crashes, you should now see a CrashReport.txt file under the same folder. Posting it as an attachment in a reply should help us track down the issue.
