@Hfric

I don't need someone else, whether it's Spoony or not, to tell me that my tastes and opinion are wrong Razz FFX is in my top 3 .. and that's final fantasyRazz

Oh and about the dual audio;

sabin1981 wrote:
The only theory that seems to hold any weight is the dual audio theory. PS3 had 7GB of data and just shy of 30GB of 1080p cutscenes for a single language. The sudden doubling of the PC space? I really do think it's dual audio. Offering dual audio on consoles would have meant SIX discs for the 360 and a second Blu-ray for the PS3 - whereas what's the cost on PC? More storage space on Valve's servers? There's no retail release to think about and there's an enormous demand for dual audio.

Yup;

As said in the thread, this *sometimes* happens even on games that aren't yet ready for SteamOS/Linux.. but still... maybe.. perhaps?

SteamOS/Linux version of FFXIII.

If that happens I'll buy it and then complain that it doesn't work on my AMD card.

Maybe its for you...

I for myself disliked every other new FF at first and the further i played it, the more i liked it.

Hell i even played successfully FF8 on JAP and i dont know any Japanese at all. Every FF has its up and downs (except the MMOs which all suck, FF is for me only a true FF if its SP only).

FF6 to FF10 are all great, no matter what you say Mr H(ate)fric Razz

The game doesn't look that good, or at least the X360 and PS3 versions did not (But now they're recommending DirectX 11 though it might just be for performance reasons.), did those not run at 60 FPS to begin with?
(30 then?)

(No AA, No AF and it seems to have been 720P too. - http://www.ag.ru/games/final-fantasy-13/screenshots/298523 )

Hmm interesting, and sub-30 at that.
(The visuals don't strike me as being that demanding for the PS3 at least so I wonder what the framerate issue was due to then.)

Well tbh there were a lot of cases of "wow this looks amazing and then.. err what is this?" A bit incosistent but considering how varied the game was when it came to environments i think they did a pretty good job.

That probably explains it then and since the sequels performed worse and had more framerate fluctuations they likely improved the art and design even further in those. Smile

@JBeckman

Funnily enough, the PS3 version was actually the prettier one. It ran at 720p with 2xMSAA with 1080p cutscenes, whereas the 360 version ran at 576p with 2xMSAA and 720p cutscenes that were actually encoded really badly. Considering that it's five years old now, it definitely looked good for the time though.

The new information posted on GamersGate about 60fps, and the addition of dual audio for the EN version, is nice. It gives hope for the other two games which, as russ said, ran even worse than XIII since they were better looking and more open. Very few prerendered cutscenes in the sequels, almost all cutscenes were real-time and in engine.

43 minutes. Honestly I'm more excited to see if it's a shit port or not as that could be a sign of how they'll go with future (hopefully non final fantasy) games.

Well 60 fps + dual audio on such short notice = effort imo.

Plus that's an old-gen game, newer ones should be even better.

Well I'll wait until I see it because I am jaded as fuck. Put From Software to shame Squeenix! But yeah if this runs well and Squeenix keeps porting their games over, I'll buy every single one of them.

Give it a few minutes, or perhaps wait one more hour until the store updates as that's usually when Steam unlocks new releases.
(Could check SteamDB and see when they update the app. - https://steamdb.info/app/292120/history/ )
