I wasn't even going to bother getting this game, given my shitty computer specs.

But it seems you can run the game in DX7?

Would I get decent performance on amd 2000+, 512mb ram, ati radeon 8500 LE (budget edition) 128mb?

Think your system needs to be badly updated, I don't normally bitch about anyones computer at all, but I'll just say you need to update it. Atleast get a 3000+ and 1GB ram. That GFX card could run in DX7 mode on settings medium I spose, guess its better to be able to play than not at all. Wink I don't know which GFX card to suggest 7800 GTX is a good card, bes one out retails : £350 something like that. I have a 6600 GT and that only runs in dx9 at 18 fps. Sad

Yeah, I know it needs to be updated Wink But now is not the time for that.

I don't really care much about the graphics not looking nice. It would be nice to have a good new multiplayer game though Very Happy

I guess I should give it a shot ...

A great game for sure, might be a little short, much better than BF2 which seems was designed for online play, and you don't need some state of the art rig to play, no errors or slow downs, i'll wait awhile longer to rebuild, til they get this 64 and sli sorted out, till then my baby plays great....

Thats why they will make an expansion pack. CoD was always short, feel like playing an Expansion pack but still worth it.

Yay! It actually runs fairly decent on my shitbox in dx7 rendering.

A question about multiplayer...

I've installed the IND private server patch, The All Seeing Eye 2.6 and imported the server list. However, whenever I try to connect to a game it just goes to a screen that says "Awaiting Key Code Authorization" and keeps counting up.

Any Ideas?

The game runs amazingly well on my medium spec comp. Ok, in Dx9 the fps ain´t that pretty, but in Dx7 it´s smooth like a babys butt. Actually I don´t see that much of difference between the 2 dx modes. Maybe if I went looking for differences, I would find some, but they are not obvious to me when I´m in the game. In dx9 my fps was pending from 60-80. Switched to dx7 and the best I could get was 260. Got it locked at 125 now, dunno why though. Smile
Just make sure to to do some commands in the console, that way you will get better performance. I´m talking about the hunkmegs and maxfps etc etc.

Kamikaze, I´m just trying to help ppl. I´m not asking for your lame comments. Go stand infront of a mirror and tell those comments to urself. Yes Cobra, ppl get better fps using those commands. And often fps is important for gamers, so I was trying to tell how to get better fps. But it seems that you can´t write anything in here without getting flamed. Too bad.

What the hell? So you were getting 60-80 FPS in DX9? On 640x320 by any chance? Laughing

Animalmother, I ran the game at 1024x768 in dx9. Tried to run it at 1280x1024, and the fps dropped to 50 and below. The difference is dx7. It boosts ur fps a hell of a lot and basically the only thing you have to sacrifice, is the snow falling on the russian maps, some light and glow effects from the sun etc. Need to say that if youre an Nvidia gfx owner, grab the latest beta drivers named 81.87. They are fine tuned for COD2.
Cobra uk, I´ll post some useful commands to you soon.

Aight, heres some useful console commands to raise your fps. Note, to gain some you have to loose some. Mostly you loose visual stuff, but COD2 looks so damn nice anyway. Smile
Much has to do with the type of graphics card you have aswell, but the game is playable on medium cards too. I got a friend who gets 130 fps with a 6600gt card.

Most important is to run the game in dx7 mode, sad but true. But as I said in the earlier post, you loose some glow effects and stuff. Game looks awesome anyway.

/com_hunkmegs
Put the number to 50% of what you have in RAM. 1024 ram = 512 Hunkmegs
So the command is /com_hunkmegs 512
Don´t forget the / , or you will only be saying the command in the general chat.

/com_maxfps
If you don`t use this command, the game will automatically lock the fps to the monitors refresh rate. For example, if you are running refresh rate at 85hz, your fps wont go over 85 no matter how good your comp is. Try experiment with different numbers. This way you can see how much fps you can get at max. ( I did /com_maxfps 300 , and I got 260fps)

Those 2 commands were a major boost for my system. If you don´t have a state to the art system, lower the resolution on your monitor and see if you can gain some fps that way.

Another good thing is to use the Optimal System Setting tab in the game menu.

I´ll write some more stuff here later, start out with these commands.
I hope you will get some improvement. Smile

Btw, my system is P4 3,2ghz , PNY Verto gf7800GT, 1024 PC3200 ram, so it´s no "OMFG what a system" kinda thing. Smile

Sry for my bad english, I do my best.
