You mean the Fov issue that makes you nearly nautious? I had that too at first but i kind of got used to it, or the issue just dissapeared after the intro 'level' on the ship, not sure which.

bad drivers/bad driver settings, or gpu overheating/damage can't be anything else when it comes to z-fighting.

Look at the edges of the monitors and below the keyboard and at the bottom of that station. It's even "moving around" when you look around with the mouse.

I tested 2 drivers and different settings with both. Temperature is not an issue. So far all info I got is that there is no real fix and seems to be hardware related, because everyone got it fixed with a new gfx. *sigh*

Looks like plain old aliasing to me. Well... to be more accurate, it looks like aliasing that was blurred by some form of post-processing AA.

Specular and/or shader aliasing I guess, ( http://www.beyond3d.com/content/articles/122/3 ) read that this game had issues with that and it's also hard to get rid of with normal AA modes so I guess that's why the developers only offer FXAA, MLAA and SMAA over MSAA. (SSAA would have been useful though.)

Downsampling works (Even better if you use it and one of the above post-AA modes.) but you might need to go to a pretty high resolution value to completely minimize the effect.
(IE for me on 1920x1200 to 3840x2400 geometry aliasing is nearly eliminated but there's still very visible shader aliasing.)

No... more shooting wouldnt make it better. I am no game designer but I think that adding more variety than restoring power with levers all the time, would be nice

Actually, I was just poking fun at your previous post that said the alien ruined it for you and wanted more guns/androids Razz To be honest, I agree with Mortibus; if you dislike the game so much ("atrocious" and "terrible" do not translate into "it's not that bad" Razz) why continue? Just drop it and move onto the next one.

Maybe it's because he has too much bass because it's not an MP game.

I thought it was a pretty decent game , it has a few flaws some major but most minor , as someone said previously and i agree there was far too much go here and press RMB , S, D or E made even more annoying by the use of the blowtorch followed by press RMB etc etc it was repetitive and boring if thats what engineers do in the future its going to be one easy arse job.

Graphically i thought it was what i would have expected and aside from too much shiny stuff it was a good visit back to the original Alien sets and atmosphere.

Seegson computer stuff was a little out of place and took a little too long from flicking open the box---boot ----do whatever.

But Whatever , ill play it again maybe at some other point when im bored.

the ending was shit though and a complete let down.... magic alien just happens to be there..............cliche cliche cliche. Gameplay for the lowest common denominator to please the masses.......................

Today it is my turn to be AN knobhead

Yeah, besides horrible aliasing it was another annoying issue:

Wow that looks pretty bad. Not a single time I got that in around 22 hours played so far (according to Steam). The aliasing I reduced it a to a minimal expression using downsampling.

Kind of amusing timing, after all this talk about Alien rarely hiding in the vents...

Just loaded a save in a level where I have been avoiding the constantly stalking alien for quite a while already (the psych ward... or something), and the first thing that I hear is the alien stumbling about in a single spot (apparently stuck) in a vent. The vent in question is right across from the exit from the save room, which means that as soon as I step out of the room the vent would open. I take one step, the vent opens and it's pitch dark in there. I switch on the flashlight to take a peek and the result was pretty much like this indeed:

I managed to scramble away and hide under the table back in the save room, but after a few seconds of sniffing about the jerk dragged me out of there and ate my face Sad

Even when the game is bugged it's still scary...

Is it so blurry or his hands have amphibian-alike palamas on this screenshot? Aliens have these? In one of the killing scenes he flashes his palm before your face and it is rather skinny.

You can'r show z fighting with a screen shot really. z fighting is when parts of a texture/shadow dissapear and appear depending on the view angle. what you have here looks like shader aliasing if you are reffering to the crawling white jaggies.

its perfectly normal and no gpu upgrade will fix it.

Downsampling doesn't seem to work or maybe Im doing it wrong Razz At least I can't see an improvment. Well, enough other games to play. *sniffle*

downsampling works, at least on nvidia. you simply create a custom resolution in nvidia's control panel, and then select it in game.

1.5x downsampling:

I couldn't get 3840x2400 working so I played at 2560x1600.

Maybe it would have worked if I had changed timings though...

Possibly, obviously a lot of it comes down to your monitor, timings and luck i guess.

I cannot downsample on my 30" at all but my 27" works up to 5120x2880.

Just finished it (Hard difficulty). Shitty ending aside, extraordinary game. My GOTY is now between this and Dark Souls 2, though maybe in the end DS2 will come out a bit on top.

Special mention for the music, and that ending credits song So Much Win

Now on to spend a shitload of hours in survivor mode with all those upcoming maps Smile

This game's Vsync does the most interesting thing performance vise.
I have a 580 GTX, with Vsync off I can notice some slight FPS drops with SSAO enabled, nothing out of the ordinary. But if I turn Vsync on with everything else maxed, the FPS and the performance is silky smooth, only mouse lag is introduced... Did anyone else notice this? Smile
Usually Vsync kills the performance for me, but here, it makes everything run smooth, besides the mouse lag.

In-game vsync + driver-forced triple buffering was the winner combo for me. Completely removed tearing and got the best performance out of it compared to using adaptive vsync fron the drivers.
