Yeah I noticed that with DA2. The amount of mods is pretty low for DA2 despite the game desperately needing them.

And that was the situation being a pretty much best case scenario, as far as mod unfriendly console ports go. Although they changed some file formats, the game still ran on a modified version of Eclipse and was largely the same under the hood as Origins. If there was real interest, I would think we would have seen an effort made to enable the use of the Origins Toolset for making custom modules. But it turned out to be a turd, and all the major players in the Origins mod scene moved on.

Yeah, that was basically my point.

If DAI comes with Creation Kit, they might be able to taste a bit of Skyrim's 20mil success. Otherwise pfft, learn how the old guards at your own company made great RPGs. Honestly if there's even a fraction of the level of modding Skyrim has for DAI, it would make the game much more tolerable. At least for me, someone who not only lost faith in Bioware completely, but also upset what they did with the setting.

Also

Quote:
Mark Darrah: Ultimately it's about player choice. It's not about inclusivity for inclusivity's sake, it's about allowing as many players as possible to play the fantasy that they want to play. Whether that be having four races instead of one race, or different genders or different sexualities, these are all about letting you build and play the character that you want.

Like I said, making everyone bi then, if its not inclusivity for inclusivity's sake.

You must live in denial if you think that's untrue. Most new RPG titles go for open world (Witcher, dragon age) instead more directed level design than in their previous titles. And it's mostly due to Skyrim success. Sad Don't get me wrong, I like open world games, but sometimes they do not fit in the game that much.

Skyrim's success was based on console sales, not moddability on PC. They could have not released an SDK and it still would have sold as well.

Not my point at all. The SDK was not what sold Skyrim because Skyrim didn't need that extra push. It had excellent hype since its announcement, followed by memes and finally the mods kept the game alive and it continued to sell. But again that's not what I was saying.

What I meant was if Bioware wants to reflect Skyrim's success, obviously not 20mil, but at least an improvement over their past games, then they need to do something extra. If DAI has the mod-ability of Skyrim, that would be what it needs to persuade PC gamers to buy this game despite it not on Steam, but Origin. DAO was niche, an open world RPG, not so much. They can capitalize this fully, especially with no TESVI or FO4 in the horizon.

As a side note. They've been working on this for years, much longer than ME2&3. if this sells around the numbers of ME3, I don't think EA would consider this a success at all.

Yeah the timeframe is not as long as they make out. What happened was they were working on a large DLC for DA2 which got canned after the poor sales of the base game, and they expanded on those ideas to make DA3. When they mention "we were already working on Inquisition while still working on DA2", that's what they are talking about (i.e. they are full of shit). It has only been 3.5 years since DA2 came out, and with work on the released and unreleased DLC, I doubt they started in earnest on Inquisition until 2012 (the 3rd DLC was announced as being cancelled in March 2012). That's not an excessive development period, especially when switching to an all new engine. ME2 was about 2.5 years and ME3 about 2 years, on the same engine, albeit upgraded, as ME1.

And again, a toolset would make no difference. What they care about is console sales.

Thing is, they released the Toolset for Dragon Age Origins and yet the amount of mods was pretty small. There's some crucial mods out there, don't get me wrong, but a game has to be designed to be moddable. Dragon Age Origins had a ton of hardwired elements making modding very painful. The amount of items in any container, for example, was 125, even player inventory. So I don't think another Toolset would have that big an impact - for Skyrim it was different because these games have a history of a thriving mod community and the game supports modding so much better than other types of games.

morrowind has been out for quite a while, and is better than the 2 sequels.

ok i ll just say it, the characters look way too fucking gay.
i dont have a problem with normal gay, but i cant deal with this much G A Y.

seriously they all look like they just pulled someone's dick out of their ass, and their faces look all shiny as if they didnt manage to wipe off all the cum in time.

even the bull, supposed to be a huge fucking manly character, has such a small head in proportion to his body and hence still looks like a pussy.

cant we have atleast one fucking generic alpha male character model from epic, with huge limbs, a la marcus fenix?

i would so fucking love to play a testosterone bomb like fenix in this game and laugh at all the pansies running around.

i ll just play a female character, thx biowere.

Presumably you can make a male Inquisitor with the manly man traits you desire (probably not the gorilla-like physique though). If not, well I guess you can always just wear a full face helmet at all times.
