What's the best difficulty, challenging but not frustrating, if I'm not interested in powergaming (reading tons of guides etc.)?

I'll just start it, I assume upcoming patches won't break save compatibility. Thanks guys.
oh yea the first half of the game should be pretty bug free
i only encountered one broken quest, and even that was not serious since the same outcome was innevitable once i accepted the quest
it's the second half that has the bugs, and i'm sure patch 3 is out by when you get there

you can change difficulty as you go if it's too easy/hard

There's a fair degree of randomness involved, especially early on when your skills are all at low levels, so save often.

It's one of the most save scum encouraging games I can recall in recent memory. I assume if Josh Sawyer played it he would have had some sort of psychotic episode.

Great game, with potential to be awesome (only played two hours). One of the best intros in gaming history, sets the mood perfectly. I like the setting.
Some basic questions. Does it matter who you start a convo with? I usually have my tank selected so he always starts convos, after which I switch to another char. Why is there no group formation? My group is huddled together, cozy-like atm. Do the graphics look this bad because the engine sucks, or does inXile suck?

Though I just started, I'm not liking the roughness of the game. I know this has been compared to Original Sin a lot, I agree with the previous sentiments. This is a more fun game due to setting and atmosphere, Original Sin is a better game because of polish and much more interesting combat. I'm already getting the feeling both games will be of equal quality overall, and that in one single year So Much Win

You can (and will have to) switch who is talking during conversations. It becomes a necessity for using the different Ass skills.

The lack of a formation function is one of the biggest negatives the game has.

The art quality is a matter of personal opinion. I had no problems with it myself. I will agree though that it is variable, and that's probably down, at least partially, to the use of a lot of 3rd party assets (crowd-sourced and Unity Asset Store).

before combat i just switch to individual ranger control (button on left, or hit space bar) and put them where i want them and then snipe to initiate combat
or send in my melee men

Which is fine when it works, but there are occasions where it doesn't. Formations and being able to manually engage turn-based mode would alleviate a lot of the issues that combat has currently.

This game is very addicting. It has issues, but the fun factor is extremely high. If only it had higher production values.

And... I just finished the game (right before the new patch... great!)

Loved the game, it didn't bug that much... had a few quests/characters, but nothing too bad (3 or 4 times) if you aren't a completionist... which I am and then it's annoying! but... doesn't take much from how great the game is.

87 hours... And I felt, compared to part 1 that I rushed it a bit more in the 2nd part. Yup you don't see that much gameplay for most titles these days.

Still no option to compare weapons in inventory/shop to secondary equipped weapon? It's not in the changelist right?

Yes, it is always good to have game patched.
But... we can also ask why game wasn't tested enough before release? Changelogs are huge.

Considering the amount of content in this game, I can't fault them really. There are AAA games with much less content which have more bugs/issues. It's a hugely ambitious project which has turned out great IMO.

I love their game, but I could easily fault them... the second part should have gone through the same testing as the first part... because it really showed.

That being said... even with all the things at release... it was still a better game than most titles you get these days.

Yeah the problem was the majority of the QA was reliant on beta/early access feedback, and that was only Arizona. Hence why California was so buggy at release.

Thus the downside to "early access" stuff only being a quarter or a third of the final product, you end up having a finely tuned expertly polished piece of magnificence...... for the first part.

I'm not a fan of open betas or early access (especially the later, paying for beta access, pfff). But yes, if you have no money to do proper testing and you intend to scrape by using crowd sourced testing then you need to test the whole game. Theoretically Obsidian has the right idea - provide non-spoiler content as a beta but devote funds to in-house and out of house QA. Of course based on how buggy PoE sounds so far, that may not work out too flash in practice....

Considering how buggy RPGs with actual beta-testing are, this one is very well polished. I'm playing with the second patch though, and in the first area.

Was the new patch released on GoG? It's nowhere to be found Sad

edit: not yet available at GoG apparently.

There are always bugs in programs, i have not seen any game or program bug free. Even if the changelog is so huge, the developer put efford on it to fix them.

I have seen games that got alot of patches too, but alot of bugs remained.

Sample: that fucking shoot bug/sound
