We have postponed the deployment of Uplay 4.8. The reason for this is: With the current build Win XP users may encounter a crash when patching to Uplay PC 4.8 from an earlier version. The client cannot patch at all for affected users and they will be stuck on an earlier version of Uplay PC.
Fixing this issue is our current priority and we will deploy Uplay 4.8 once this issue is resolved rather than leave some of our customers without access to their games in the interim. |
It crashed during update for me, too, and I'm on Win7.

Many still use it, so from a business point of view it makes sense they still support it. Especially when games in their library play fine on it.

Don't you need this uShit to play their XP-compatible games?
So they have to support XP as long as they support their XP games, right?

I don't have much info on it but I saw it on the release notes:
Quote: |
"Conditional Rewards"
Beginning with the release of Assassin's Creed Unity, UPlay now supports a new type of reward. These rewards will only be enabled when a user has reached a certain place in the game or achieved specific milestones.
|
Then in UPlay itself you can go to "Win" and scroll down, open Assassins Creed Unity and select a platform (PC for example.) and it'll list a whole bunch of different actions and rewards.
(Including several 500 point ones for the Unite program. http://assassinscreed.com/unite/ Which also has exclusive unlocks in the game.)

QUESTION
how can i launch uplay games through steam (to get the overlay/take screenshots)
ive tried directly adding the exe for the game, i've tried adding UPLAY and then running the game through that, and ive tried changing the shortcut into the same command uplay uses to launch the games... none of it works.
at best, steam puts me as 'in game' for about 5 seconds, and then goes back to normal 'online' again...
is it even possible to launch legit uplay games through steam (add non-steam game) any more?
