How would you compare it to the latest Might and Magic? The balance was excellent in that game. I didn't like Grimrock much, it was pretty much all combat.

I think im gonna go with pala, arcane soldier, cleric, bard and thief . Dont know if game is polished enough tho (combat/character skills. etc...are bugs free) to do a complete run.

Maybe it would be best to wait for couple of patches before digging into the game more deeply.

grimrock was more puzzles than combat Very Happy, there are some puzzles here but few but they give a very nice reward if you solve them; obviously it has alot more content than m&m. If you dont like the combat, it can be avoided in many situations since all mobs have a radius from where they get aggro and you can see this radius easy, so you can go around them, but still almost all roads have enemies on them so you have to do battle. Also there are ambushes when you get attacked by hidden enemies; and about mobs, every zone has a certain number of them visible and hidden, once you defeat all of them you get xp bonus and msg of your acomplishment Very Happy and no respawn ofc

btw my party 2 barbarians, theif, cleric, mage; im sorry i went with axes on my 2nd barb, i find stun from maces/hammers much more effective than wounds from axes; also thief kinda blow in combat since its in the 2nd row but shurikens help

@lolozaur

Is thief and his skills vital to the party in this game?

Tbh I'd rather take 2xbarb+ paladin+mage+cleric for my party. 4xstun+ 2 healing (minor&major)characters+ da power of Magic Laughing

there are shitload of traps and chests, hidden doors, in the long run you wont have enough skillpoints to keep up with trap/lcok/perception skills since gaulen will be your thief and he has way more useful abilities to learn than those

I sure die a lot in this game! Very Happy

Still quite good, while I loved Grimrock... I'm actually glad this focuses more on combat so it doesn't give the same gameplay. Only thing I disliked so far was the voice actor, cheap Russel Crowe isn't doing it for me. Razz

Lords of Xulima - Available on Linux!

What's next? The Workshop
We are working on some modding options for Lords of Xulima. The first one will be the ability to modify rule sets in the game (classes, skills, enemies, encounters, zones...).

Players will be able to create their own rule set and share it with the community. Would you like to try a super fast LoX without random encounters, but you can only cure the party with potions? Or where Wyverns are roaming Velegarn and Gaulen is now a Pyromancer?
There are endless possibilities!

So Much Win

Man, started playing this two days ago on the middle difficulty (Veteran). The combat really is challenging so far and getting one or two blessing is a must it seems.
Cleared the first map and a little bit from the second map. But those raptors... NOPE Laughing

Playing this on hardcore (but not ironman, that's insane) - the difficult is just right for me. Really loving the game, I'd say I'm about at ~50% completion or less. My party: barbarian rogue bard mage priest.

Hard for me to say, it's completely turn-based and I play while watching streams and alt-tabbing into other games... if I had played only this without doing anything else, I'd say it was still definitely more than 25 hours (a substantial part of which was retrying battles where one of my guys suffered a fatal wound).

Well, I have a second monitor where I watch streams (usually competitive league of legends), while in my main monitor I tend to alt-tab between an offline turn-based game and another game. So for instance, I could be playing hearthstone or LoL, while alttabbing to lords of xulima or civilization 5, while watching a stream.

It's hard to go back once you get used to this setup Smile

I'm level 2, a few tips would be appreciated concerning weapons and leveling up.
Thief - barbariab - Gaulen
Cleric - bard - mage

This is my party setup. Might be crap (?), but it seemed like the most fun party. Now the question are:
How should I level my Cleric and Bard (focus on which skill)?
Which weapon should I use for my cleric, bard and thief?

edit: what's with the useless rings and such in locked chests? I'm only level 5 now, but the randomized loot is pretty crappy it seems. Reading other forums, it'll probably stay crap. Why you use fully randomized loot system devs Evil or Very Mad
It seems I'm stuck with the craptacular pole weapons for my Cleric and Mage Sad

I hope the game improves untill lvl10, it seems a bit too simplistic atm. I had more fun with MMX in the beginning, this one feels a lot more budgety.

Well level 15 now, the combat is getting very tedious. The AI is plain stupid and extremely predictable, every fight is basically the same (mixed with some chance). The story is also idiotic, full of cliches and very bad storytelling.

5/10.

Combat does get repetitive since there's little strategy once you figure out what to do. The problem is, that good RPGs have a solid story to get you to continue playing but there's very few side quests and the main quest is entirely linear. The writing is mediocre as well.

It's fun for about 10-15 hours and then it's just "yawn". There's just a bit too little of everything and it lacks some important touches. For example, the world needs more attention, more interesting areas to explore, more enemies, more unique behaviour, etc.

For me it's 7/10 because it IS fun f or a decent period of time.
