Wanna know average number of times parts of LotF exe code are tossed around between RAM and HDD in the span of one hour? 150000 copy/write iterations. That's about 10000 times more than usual. DRM constantly decrypts the game code into the memory and encrypts it back. This is the most bullcrap usage of encryption software I've ever stumbled upon. And even though code chunks are quite small(couple of kilobytes per go at worst), they are all stored in one memory block. And playing the game for 4-8 hours(depends on SSD quality) means that you can say goodbye to that block."

What? I'm illiterate idiot when it comes to such stuff but why would any protection do so? it makes little to no sense to me. Operation/obfuscation in memory is one thing but why disk space?

???
its not "disk space", its the quantity of memory on the disk is writing/reading: in few words, it's gonna kill your SSD really quick or damaging your normal HDD at a slow rate.

Well that explains a problem I've been having with the game. I've gotta rack of 4 x 1TB HDD's plus a 300 n a bit gig Samsung ssd which is purely a system partition - I don't store any games on the ssd. I stopped playing this game cos of the racket my machine was making everytime I start up the game was too distracting.
I've checked all the fans and they were all OK then I swapped the steam folder to different HDD's but it made no diff.
These are all just standard barracudas but the oldest is only about 15 months so it makes no sense for that much noise to be coming off any of em. It doesn't happen with any other game.
The noise has been too irritating so I stopped playing the game thinking I'll wait until I build me a new rig for xmas but if the damn thing is just needlessly encoding & decoding the exe it's likely the only real fix is to soundproof my box n fuck that. eh.
That indeed sounds outrageous, but where's the quote from? If it's a reliable source and the damage caused can be proven, then this piece of info should be spread all around the Internet.

imo if ou have some good tool to measure RAM and HDD to see these read/write cycles - anyone who hav ethe game can test it
I still don't understand why it has to write back to disk continuously... if it's "only a few kylobytes" why not just work entirely in RAM?
I hope people call them out on this... although if they do I don't think it'll be the end of this protection, unfortunately it sound like something that can be easily fixed by working entirely with a small ramdisk...
So I guess, I install an old hard drive in my computer and move the Origin Games folder to that hard drive.
Neither do I want to destroy my SSD nor my main HDD. Too much important stuff on them. (And no, not pr0n. Work and University stuff)

yay another "harmless" awesome undefeated DRM
Holy jeebus on a wooden stick, that's simply insane if true. It's worse than having one of those uber-aggressive rootkits pseudoworms. Yet nobody "out there" is saying anything, on the contrary, they're clapping their hands because filthy pirates have been defeated. Long live the hard disk killer DRM!
Lords of the Fallen Patch 1.4 will be released in the next few days.
Fixes in the patch will solve major gameplay issues. We are aware of the game stability problems. Since we cannot reproduce those issues on our side, we are sharing a development version of the game with users who reported such crashes.
The development version generates a log each time the game crashes so we can investigate specific cases of the game instability. We are working hard and doing our best to resolve those issues as soon as possible.
Patch 1.4 notes
The following technical issues that will be fixed with the update:
Game functions not working properly if a gamepad is not connected to the PC
FPS drop while using Gauntlet
Windowed mode instead of the Windowed Borderless after restarting the game
Green bar at the bottom of screen on Nvidia splash screen
Mouse cursor disappearing after changing resolution in fullscreen mode
The following gameplay issues that will be resolved in the patch:
Inactive lever before Commander encounter after game restart
Harkyn not being respawned after dying nearby magic statue
Harkyn being unable to move after jumping into gauntlet cutscene trigger
Incorrect physics of human ragdolls
Gate at Cirque of Heroes being closed after dying during Beast encounter
Possibility to get to the area with Law Hammer without opening the door
Game corruption when Harkyn dies while recovering his health points
The player being unable to change gear after equipping Sting
Incorrect Champion hitboxes
Guard Captain reacting improperly on Mimic skill effects
Inactive hitboxes of 2 Infested enemies In Catacombs
Greatswords attacks not dealing damage after successfully parrying an attack
PS There is a difference between RU\CIS retail key version and RU\CIS steam gift.
The first one requires VPN to play, the second one requires vpn only to activate the game
I think this one is a retail version.
Actually they mention it on the page:
Quote:
can be activated and played only
, ergo you need to get a steam RU\CIS gift.
wrong.. my friend buy this from plati.ru = retail key and activated it with vpn.. he can play without vpn...
Considering the game is going for $10 on Plati, that seems like a fantastic bargain. Seriously. Shame Plati sellers don't take PayPal because that $10 seems mighty appealing.
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
