Playing since the start with Mouse and WASD . Works really well, even better ifyou have a mechanical keyboard. Couple of fine tuning with the mouse and your set

I had an X52, nice HOTAS for the price but be aware that it won't work properly with mobo which have USB 3.0 ports (even if you use their USB 2.0 ports).
To use X52 on Win7 you will have to say goodbye to USB 3.0 feature by disabling them in bios.
On Win8.1 it works, but throttle stick MFD will still be messed up.

And I think we won't see any X52 drivers update from Madcatz now the X55 is out as they even didn't update X55 drivers since a while now ... Evil or Very Mad

On Win8.1 you should be fine.

MFD is kinda useless anyway Wink
(I only used them to display radio frequencies in FSX)

MFD (Multi function display) :

In FSX you can display your radio frequencies like this :

Also here is the problem I had as well :

No biggy actually Wink
Considering under Win7 this stick will simply lockup the whole computer ^^

received email with bunch of useless crap.
a highlight :

Code:
Will you give people refunds?
We have started responding to requests where there is a clear outcome:
-    Those who have pre-ordered an Elite: Dangerous release version from our online store and have therefore not yet played the game are eligible for a refund.
-    Those who have already been playing the game online in the Alpha and/or Beta phases, regardless of whether they backed the project via Kickstarter or purchased access to Alpha and/or Beta through our online store, are not eligible for a refund.

We want to make sure we treat each person's situation with the thoroughness it deserves, and have contacted each of them to ask that they bear with us over the next few working days if their circumstances do not fit either criteria above as we look into individual requests.

i wish them shitload of legal troubles until they pay off everyone which requested refunds.

The Lie:

Q: Why not delay the decisions and put extra resources on this after the release?

A: We will review the decision after release, but our priority is moving the game forwards for the great majority of players, and are wary of producing a sub-standard game.

The Truth:

Q: Do you now consider Elite: Dangerous to be an MMO?

A: Technically, it has always been. There are already over 100,000 people playing in the same world. We believe that always-online entertainment is already a reality for the majority. We are delivering a truly huge game using the best technology and designed to stand the test of time, played for many years to come and still be relevant.

So, the offical word, and I can't believe this is what they've come out with.

Quote:
Is offline mode an impossible problem, or just unfeasible?

It is a creative decision, not wanting to produce an empty game. It is technically possible, but it would be a largely separate game development.

So there you have it - after all the lies, misleading quotes etc, it boils down to this.

I thought any Pre-order always granted a re-fund until release day anyway.
My request is under Investigation for the last 48h. I pulled the gun just prior to the no offline announcement wanting to support Elite in-spite of the less optimistic experiences players reported.
My connection goes to crap at night and weekends so on-line play is currently a no-no for me. But more importantly my confidence in them as been chattered. I cannot reason why this offline problems where not addressed months ago 6+.
I might still get Elite in the future but now I need more than Braben+ Elite to convince me.

Sooooo

Beta 3.9 will be launched today ... surprisingly Gamma 1.0 arrives this saturday Surprised

Quote:
Here’s a quick overview of what to expect from Beta 3.9, above and beyond the countless fixes, tweaks, improvements and optimizations that have been going in.

Top of the list is the exciting news there are now multiple ways to reach the rank of Elite! You now progress to that exalted status via Trading and/or Exploration and/or Combat, rather than Combat alone.

You can also now gain ranks with both the Federation and/or Empire as you work on their behalf.

There is a further step forward in the ongoing changes to the mission system in preparation for the 16th December, generally increasing the richness of what you are able to do. This includes an associated significant overhaul of Unidentified Signal Sources, giving increased variety and added mission related context. USS are now well worth checking out.

You can now barter with other players in deep space, by transferring non-stolen goods to them.

Ship outfitting and Galaxy map have both had major overhauls.

Last but not least for this brief summary, open-mic voice communications between up to 6 players in a group has been added.

Forum Q: OK so give the people that bought the game for the offline a refund. Problem solved. The more you refuse the more it looks like youre nothing more than conmen. Ramping up the PR guys to promote beta upgrades all the while knowing you were going ot stripe away an important feature is pretty shady.

Until you give people their refunds you will be looked at with the same disdain as the likes of EA.

MB: And that is being looked into - however we have to be careful that our refunds policy is consistent.

Michael

Oh look, they're finally realising that their precious vision might NOT be as important as people's cash...

Asus M5A99x Evo. It's a few years old now. Also, I had the X52 and not the X52 Pro. Not sure if that made a difference.

Damn, that's something like $3600 just in projectors. Too bad there's probably not a machine existing right now that could run the game at 5760 x 1080 and in 3D (which the projectors support) and have the framerates be acceptable Smile

I suspect a good 10-20% of players would get refunds if that was the case, not only those who actually are bothered about the single player part, but those whom have tried the game and realised its not for them claiming their money back.

I dont blame FD for not refunding those whom have already played alpha / beta though i WOULD be going over individual cases and refunding those in alpha who put up a valid reason.

Maybe the number of players request for refunds is higher than they predicted.
That can also mean that they are not so financially healthy, otherwise I see no reason for not refunding those who are requesting and being vocal in all the forums. That would explain why they need to release the game now.
