Yeah well I'm using the tactical view no matter what cause it feels good to add some tactical element although the controls are certainly shit. But if you're saying the game is unplayable or shit only because of the fucked up tactical view then you are a noob. And I mean that in general.

i didnt said the game is shit , i only said that i hate MMO-(shit)like design on SP/Story-driven game. And I said that DA:I is not worth my time (let alone money) in its current state (bad UI/controls, weird AI which both can be patched) , based on my not so amazing experince with it so far

On the subject of environments, there was a nice touch I experienced last night. One area you go to is a dingy shithole where it is pissing down rain, but after you close all the rifts it stops raining and the sun comes out.
Speaking of rain, they obviously didn't figure out how to restrict the use of their wet shader to external areas. Any of the places where it is raining (there are at least 3 major areas plus some minor ones) even inside buildings everything is wet and shining, which looks fucking stupid.

Metacritic press reviews are pretty garbage. Hurrdurr I want to be like every other mainstream site and strengthen my relationship with company X for monetary gain/free games/exclusive info, 10/10. |
I do agree on both points, so it's pretty fair to say that metacritic is garbage in general...

I just started playing and the one thing that bothers me even more than the camera and UI are the armour designs. I would compare it to say Arnie wearing a clown costume throughout T2. Even when some epic battle is commencing it feels like a brazilian carnivale and my party are a bunch of samba dancers in ridiculous outfits.

@Kein
Shows how worthless it all is. At the slightest hint of controversy, it all gets flooded with 0-1 review scores. You can hate on some games as much as you want, but you can't possibly think it's an appropriate rating if you set out to make a review.
It happens on the other side of the spectrum as well, with the "omgosh so amazong 10/10" reviews, but the hate pours in much more readily.
Either way, the review score gets skewed.

Wait until you get to Orlais, the outfits are twice as ridiculous.

Whoever it was in here that stated this game is better with a controller - understatement of the fucking year. Holy shit, it's like a completely different game once I plugged in my 360 controller. Tactical camera seems better, and the ability to play and pause tactical combat with the right trigger is absolutely invaluable - it feels way more natural than the keyboard's jury rigged "pause" button.
Note, I'm not saying I agree with this (what they've done to the PC controls is unforgivable), but if you have a controller, USE IT, despite any misgivings you may have (I was disgusted at the idea at first too). Trust me.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I think you missed his point. Ignore the zeros and tens. Focus on the average user score.
When a game is good it will receive a 7+ user score. The big review site scores on the other hand....
So yes while 0 and 10 are mostly exaggerated, the average user score is still a pretty good indication whether the game is good or not.

The average score is a result of of the 0s and 10s, how do you ignore them?
It's a representation of how many fanboys/shills/haters a game has garnered. Bioware attracts a disproportionately large number of the latter - and for good reason.
If I want to take something away from metacritic, I read the negative user reviews and see if they make any sense or if it's just a troll with an agenda. No different from amazon reviews really, I do the same there to see if a product is worth buying.

No it's not. By that example, ACU is horrendous piece of shit - which I am pretty sure it's not, even if it has issues. All you can tell from the score is that either there is some controversy surrounding the game (think ME3 ending, DRM) or simply the devs changing things enough that upset a sizeable enough portion of the existing fan base. It does not (in those cases at least) actually tell you how good the game itself is. This is especially true for very popular high-priced games.

I'm currently playing the last gen console version, so for obvious reasons I can't comment on the technical aspects. As far as gameplay and story goes, it's really not that bad, however. I don't know what people were expecting, but personaly I find the main storyline better than DA:O - it's essentially the same old trope, but a lot more complicated and detailed. Characters and dialogues also aren't nearly as bad as some of the marketing material suggested. I like the evolution of Cullen and Leliana, I like Blackwall and the new, toned down Varrick. I liked what I've seen of Sera so far. The fact that after around 20h gametime no gruffy male started hitting on me yet is just another bonus
Toned down is what could be said of the whole game's style, in fact. There's no superfast two-handed sword fighting, there are no enemies exploding in fountains of blood, there's no extreme, almost anime-like silliness like Fenris or Anders. Seriously, comparing this to the shitty parts of DA2 is beyond me and it's really hard not to see it as hate for the hate's sake.
Combat requires some readjustment, but I started to enjoy it too, after a fashion. It's certainly not as tactical as Origins, but - in contrast to DA2 again - tactics are, at least, part of the game. And since on higher difficulties enemies can hit pretty hard and every blow counts because your HP doesn't regenerate and potions are finite - it's a meaningful part. Encounters are usually relatively well designed - you can see enemies and plan accordingly. Unless you happen to be fighiting rogues - fuckers often don't engage you until you are in a fight with someone else (which is pretty cool too). I've also encountered one dragon. Sadly, it saw me too and breathed fire, ending the fight before it began. Much more cautious when approaching dragons now All in all, it's a pretty solid system, altought you really need to stop expecting a full-on tactical turn fighting to get the most out of it. It's an action RPG with a tactical overlay - more complicated than most games nowadays anyway. Accept that fact and it's possible to have some fun (tho I certainly enjoyed DA:O combat system more).
One thing I do not like is the amount of fetch, mmo-like quests - but I've just started to ignore them and just do them if something else happens to take me in the right direction. So it's not that big of a deal, really.
The game also reminds me somewhat of Dragon's Dogma. Maybe it's the non-regenerating HP, or the open world structure with a party, I don't know. I do get a DD vibe from it, however, so if you've ejoyed that one, maybe you'll too - except it's much, much bigger (it really is fucking HUGE), has better story and characters and - sadly - worse combat system.
All in all, I'm happy to say I was wrong about this one and should've trusted my initial impressions more. It's the best Bioware game I've played in a long, long while and it gets even better as I go on.

One of the Mass Effect games had a Darkspawn head mounted on the wall too.
