I know what I experienced with downtimes, so no need.
Jaedenar was a mess after virtually each patch, always downtime and always issues, but never refund.
You can claim otherwise, but this is what i experienced myself.

I would go 9 years back because: Like hell I'm going to post multiple screenshots and I started at the front where the most trouble was (Tho in the entire record it shows, every expansion I experienced I had compensation days), and I would only have meaningful data up till around 2010 since after that: erratic subscribing and quitting the game.
It does show that later the frequency was lower... but like others pointed out: There were fewer problems except for expansions. I don't know what you mean with mess, but there were indeed the usual woes with patches as in downtime an hour here or there due to fuck ups and I only saw them compensate once for that, but that was because it was pretty much half a day of downtime. I never really expected them to compensate for an hour or a few.
Ofcourse you can whine on that... but in perspective. Most (close to all) other MMO's out there, don't do it and the ones that do it are bleak in comparison to what Blizz gives back.
It's so uncommon that I was surprised that Archage did... and in all honesty, that pile of shit was a lot bigger and more in an unfinished state than WoW was on release day.
Still it was good behaviour of them, especially when you see the others don't give a shit at all.
five days are pretty good! i raged like an idiot because it was just so frustating playing the first 2- days. waiting the whole day just to get into the garnisson or a few hours to complete one quest...
but after those problems were gone i had a real blast playing this and almost forgot about all those problems in no time.
1 or 2 free days would have been enough for me but hey i can live with 5 days too!
Yep game was stable enough on my medium pop realm after 2 days so 5 free days is good enough
On Stormreaver I had still problems... on Monday. Flew to garrison and got stuck in the air. (tried to get through for maybe 30 minutes until I gave up and logged an alt.)
I still have login problems when i logged off in the garnison (realmserver not active). Im sure Blizz knew very well whats gonna happen at launch and prepared the 5-free-days-statement already before launch. Its not like its their first expansion...
I don't understand though. The monthly fee is the smallest problem when playing a MMO - the financial amount you spend for a month (and, on a related note, the amount you get back from a few days of compensation) is negligible compared to the cost of the time spent playing. In other words, I would expect that the fact that you cannot play for instance for one hour would far outweigh any financial compensation provided by Blizzard... sure, it's a nice gesture and downtime is unfortunately unavoidable in large MMOs, but the compensation is basically worth nothing.

it shows that they care. at least a bit. small gesture like this counts.
and ... make sone math.
lets say it cost ~1$ / 5 days.
1$* 5.000.000 people -> they lost 5 milion $.
this amount could easly fund a game.
But clearly they didn't refund as much anymore after, they clearly saw they had power to not do so.
Because why else would you guys go 8-9 years back just to prove a point
Back then they still needed to lure in users and keep them there, so ofc they play the good guys with that
The conclusion is real.......
So now you are saying that they are the bad guys just trying to take your money !
As Kanint said they improved a lot on the servers being so much more stable !
And im not talking about this release, they downscaled a lot since people stopped playing this game! This is no different from any other game ! bf3, bf4, diablo 3, dayz and so on!
They said sorry and is giving free gametime for the time spend i queue.
Back in the dayz Stormreaver used to crash when the leading guild took down new bosses like Ragnaros, Nefarion and Onyxia...
They also moved patchday from Friday to Wednesday. It's always a good idea to implement new things when the weekend is near, highly motivating your employees - get that shit done or your weekend is fucked, haha!
did anyone get their free time yet ? i canceled the 14th , i want my free shit
I don't see it on my account yet. If you don't get it and want it, go ahead and ask support. They generally rule in favor of the player (sometime giving free days to people just asking it for no reason).
Just tell them you canceled on the 14th and that your decision was based on the server queues (regardless of whether this is true or not) and that you would like this free game time to re-evaluate the game as it was intended to be experienced.
looks like blizzard came through and fixed insane long queues by doubling realm player limit. last night on my packed realm queue was less than a 1000 which is very manageable and wait was less than 30 mins
playing bm since launch (when i play). i simply don't want to play other spec like hunter.
during vanilla, my regular party healer (priest called blindfaith) manually added my pet to her ui frame, to keep it alive, it saved her ass a lot of time. great times in vanilla. now is not that memorable, but still i have a lot of fun.
Really? I thought BM was shit before bestial wrath came?
I didnt start to play hunter before tbc.
Though i completed some of the quest parts for the lok delar for a friend back then. Remember i how i wanted a hunter back then, but i had leveled a warrior instead. Christ leveling was shit back then

not really that shit actually we were good until t3 (i think) when rest of classes (beside us and warlocks) get their itemnization and fixes.
anyway, i played like an utility class.
safe pulling, tranq shot, agro reset in case of bad pulls, kitting 1-2-3 mobs around, trapping another... basically i was pulling 90% of vanilla raids content for my guild. (and i was the only hunter which raided constantly. we dint had permanent hunters until after tbc, people just disliked the class in my guild).
fd + drinking for mana recovery during lenghty boss fight's is something i would not forget. or consuming all mana in few second dps burst, autoshot, alttab to read something for the next 10+ seconds .
less headache for raidleader, because we dint really need any group synergie. for some time i was in the main tank group ).
in pvp with pve gear hunters were godlike mode. (before resilience). aimed shot was a one shot kill (if critted) for example if you were raid geared and oponent not. no class could catch us, master at kitting + tools to keep openent at distance.
constantly fight on the forum rogues vs hunters. we were nerfed like ... 5 times ? until rogues had a bit of chance to kill us. (dont remeber the timeframe, but it was funny).
lots of good memories.
l.e.
yeh, pets died easly, i had to call, send it back during boss fights and so. blizzard fucking things up with debuffes which should never have landed on pets dint help at all.
but we got our revenge with living bomb.
get living bomb on pet, dismiss pet, after raid go into orgrimmar cal pet in ah, profit.

Fuck yea back when pve was worth something i pvp. I dont get why they implemented pvp-stats! i remember playing my friends hunter outside org, duelling - he was in Massive smothered in epics, i won duels agains melee heros with raptor strike, scattershot and serpentsting only
Not to mention my warrior with Halberd of Smiting from ZG - Must have been one of the most underrated polearms in the game, the proc could proc on basically anything you did even charge
same thing warlocks did with their pet. Remember a video where someone acted as a terrorist cause they where nerfed or something like that !
I stopped doing pvp the day they added ressilience.
Im gonna find that video
What server do you play on?
