Does anyone else get these strange horizontal scan lines (about 4 of them spaced out on the screen) when moving the view around in game? Kinda like areas of shadow that makes it look like the terrain is moving, even though it's not
It's not noticeable when the view is still, but as soon as I scroll the map it gets pretty fucking annoying. Not a monitor or refresh rate issue.
Took a steam capture of it - not as clear due to the quality being sub 1920x1080, but you can still make them out towards the middle of the screen - http://www.twitch.tv/immunityz/b/571464520
Must be some wonky graphics option causing it.
Yes, I have the same. I first thought it was VSync but it's not.
I've not played any of the other games in this series. Would any of you still recommend checking it out? Thinking of demoing it first just in case.
Just get Crusader 1. It has more polish, less bug, and compatible with modern systems afaik. There is no reason to try Crusader 2 as 1 is superior and 2 doesn't add anything to it at all.
Sadly Crusader 2 is another dissapointment. It's not the utter garbage that was Stronghold 3 on release date, but it feels so shallow and cheap. Just a wasted opportunity to breathe some life into the series.

2 actually does add some things. There are different size/population hovels (depending how far you are from the keep), some structures not seen before in C1, environmental influences (locusts, weddings), more ammo for trebuchets, new units, and some structural stuff for building your castle. However, it does remove some things that were nice in the first. I don't see the ability to hire mercenaries like before or fire pots for the archers. If these are in the game, then I have not gotten to them yet as I am in the combat learning campaign right now.
Blow the horn, bang the drum, The Pig is coming to town! The Princess & The Pig DLC resurrects one of four central antagonists from the original Stronghold (2001) in a brand new Crusader Trail, while also introducing a completely new character in the form of the noble Princess. The first piece of downloadable content available for Stronghold Crusader 2, The Princess & The Pig adds seven missions, two AI opponents, 10 achievements and new castle designs unique to The Princess and The Pig.
New Missions
New contestants have entered the fray in the battle for Jerusalem! The Princess and The Pig have embarked for the holy lands bringing swords, spears and maces in a journey destined to disrupt the balance of power. Players must fight their way through a new skirmish trail with seven deadly scenarios to tackle, including three new maps. Old faces such as The Wolf, Richard the Lionheart and Saladin also make a return, smarter and more strategic than before. While these new rivals sometimes aid the player in battle, they won’t hold back when it comes to the gruesomely difficult finale.
The Pig
Starved by an abusive father as an infant, it wasn't long before The Pig ran away from home and joined up with a group of bandits in the English backcountry. After proving himself in a series of early raids The Pig quickly rose to lead this band of brigands, claiming the finest spoils from each skirmish as his own. He soon took to overeating, becoming morbidly overweight and using this newfound size to intimidate his enemies. Despite this chequered past The Wolf eventually managed to secure The Pig a Dukedom, after which he became The Wolf's personal enforcer on the battlefield. Although the two often work as a team, The Pig fears The Wolf just as much as he did his own father.
The Princess
While The Pig was effectively raised by bandits, raiding nobles in the English countryside, The Princess is a very different character born into privilege. Her position in the royal court has meant she spent her entire life with nothing to prove. Fortunately for her growing up in high society has left The Princess with a powerful sense of self-reliance and confidence, sorely lacking in certain other Lords and Ladies. After solidifying her place and influence in the royal court, The Princess is now determined to prove her worth as a commander on the battlefield. This drive makes her every bit as fearless and proud a military leader as any male heir to the throne. Key Features

Our first free DLC of 2015 adds AI siege invasions, an easy AI mode, six new maps and faction selection for single-player campaigns! Available to everyone who owns the game on Steam, the 'Invasions' update can be accessed by downloading the latest version of the game.
Designed to beef up the free-building Sandbox mode, invasions allow players to find out just how impregnable their mighty castles are by launching increasingly powerful attacks against them. While easy AI mode and faction selection have both been popular requests by players since the 'Blow the horn, Band the drum' update, we also added six new maps to do battle across. From the no man’s land of ‘Interlocked’ to the steep slopes of ‘Volcano’ and the woodlands of ‘The Forest’, this new map pack adds both Skirmish and Sandbox maps to the game
The Angel of Death hovers over your castle! The Emperor & The Hermit DLC introduces two new AI opponents and an all-new Crusader Trail campaign. Spiritual successors to The Emperor and The Abbot from the original Stronghold Crusader (2002), The Emperor and The Hermit are driven entirely by religious fervour. Backed by zealots who follow their cause without question, be it just or corrupt, these new characters represent a dangerous new threat to both sides of the Crusader conflict.
The next expansion for Stronghold Crusader 2, The Emperor & The Hermit adds seven missions, two AI opponents, 10 achievements, additional player shields and new castle designs unique to The Emperor and The Hermit.
