|
 |
So, for Christmas I'm thinking of getting a nice new computer to prepare myself for that unreal 3 engine (which looks great) and to play current games like FEAR with everything on high and all the eyecandy turned up (like FSAA, etc.). So I want some opinions on this setup (I will give multiple choices for some catagories):
Motherboard:
DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR ATX AMD Motherboard
or
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium ATX AMD Motherboard
(Pretty much the only 2 I would ever get, based on anandtech reviews and personal experience with Asus and DFI)
CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 FX55 (I figure, save $200 then bump the multi. up one and voila, an FX-57, after all, its the same core)
(also, with a nice Zalman 7700CNPS cooler to O/C it, if it needs it)
RAM:
OCZ 1GB DDR500 2-2-2-8 (2 x 512MB) 3.3v (with the DFI since the voltage is higher than 3)
or
CORSAIR XMS 1GB DDR400 2-2-2-6 (This would go with the Asus mobo since the voltage)
(also, would get more later to make 2GB with 4x w/e I get)
Video Card:
XFX Geforce 7800GTX PVT70FUND7 (Any 7800GTX would do, this happens to be the cheapest overclocked one at 490 core)
(would get another later then SLI them.)
Sound Card:
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum 70SB035000003
or
Creative SOUND BLASTER X-Fi Platinum Sound Card
(probably leaning towards X-FI here)
Monitor:
ViewSonic G90FB Black 19" CRT Monitor (this or the 21 in. I'm getting CRT since #1) No ghosting like LCD, #2) cheaper, is the main reason why.)
Power Supply:
SeaSonic S12-600 600W Power Supply
(I heard about a conflict with DFI board with this PSU, is it true?)
Hard Drive:
Maxtor MaXLine III 300GB 3.5" Serial ATA150 Hard Drive
(This is an open catagory, I can figure this one out myself, but the Maxtor looks pretty good.)
Case:
Thermaltake SHARK VA7000BWA Black Computer Case
or
Thermaltake XASER, Armor Series VA8000BWS Black Computer Case
or
(any other suggestions?, only thing I couldn't find a reliable review source)
That should come around $2000 US dollars. I'm open to any other suggestions, if you have them. I'm no n00b at this, I just wanted opinions on it. I did hours of reasearch at places like Tomshardware or Anandtech to find out what would be best and this is what I found. Like I said, I'm not limited to whats in the list, make any suggestions that you would like, you don't like it? then thats fine with me, just tell me what you don't like and I'll see if I agree.

P.S. NO Intel here! AMD is the king! BTW, didn't intel admit that the netburst architecture wasn't as good as AMD's or the Intel Pentium-M's architechture?

Alright, first off, I'm not a n00b, I just happen to not like Intel that much. So I said I hated them, well I sort of. I just don't like their products that much. Their processors (especially the old prescot) run too hot, use up too much energy, arnt as fast as AMD processors, you getting the picture of why me no like intel. Besides, any real gamer knows that AMD is the king of gaming.
Oh, and btw, I don't have alot of money, if I had that i'd get an alienware or something like that.
Sorry if I affended anyone by saying INTEL SUX!.....(all you intel fanboys...)
And I only got 1 opinion on my computer (to come) and that was a 7800GTX 512MB edition. I would like some on the othere products.

P.S. The above^ (Sorry if I affended anyone by saying INTEL SUX!.....(all you intel fanboys...)) is a joke, please don't take it seriously, or I'm sure I'll get flamed by some intel fanboy(s)
