Thank god I don't have to play this game on low or medium I would puke all day long and not just in the toilet...this game has amazing graphics with a good use of tesselation for the first fucking time on the ground and the walls and shit. Frostbite is doing a good job.

Exactly Razz. As always it's two different perspectives, the gamers' and medias'. We got to play excellent classic cRPGs like Wasteland 2, Divinity OS, Shadowrun Dragonfall, Grimrock 2 this year; yet according to all the gaming buzzness that surrounds the gaming world, Dragon Age 3 is the one and only, s̶e̶c̶o̶n̶d̶ third coming of the biochrist. Darkier, sexier, and dildoer.

But then again, Mass Effect 2 was voted best RPG of 2010 so it all makes sense.

16 hours in and I just finished up what I could in the Hinterlands, missing a few things but I can't access the last area yet so that will probably resolve itself.

I liked how at the start the zone was quite chaotic but as I dealt with the rogue templars and mages things calmed down considerably, getting some watchtowers up also took care of most of the bandits and the wolves have also been dealt with so now the only thing I encounter is bears (Though the larger ones are gone.) and of course the dragonlings in a certain area, doubt those will disappear anytime soon. Smile

Will be nice to finally see the rest of the game, going by IAmAwesomes review it seems things won't change much for the remainder of it but I'll see for myself when I've progressed that far with the storyline.
(But yeah there hasn't been any real choices so far, long countdown timers on the war table mission was also annoying but adjusting the system clock solved that issue.)

Main story - Only 7 main quests with dumbass boss fights who had trash mob mechanics. I was knight-enchanter, so flashed in and spammed Spirit Blade till the boss died. Didn't even take any damage. Laughing Story itself was very straight forward. No twists or surprises. Nothing. Go to A, do this, save that, go to B, repeat, get this, meet the boss, the end.

I have what is presumably the final mission (basically says as much in the description) waiting to unlock on the war table. I have to agree, the story has proved extremely bland and uninteresting, not to mention extremely short. It's unsurprising really, if this is indeed the repurposed plot from the Exalted March DLC for DA2 that was cancelled. There's little flow or cohesion to it, just a few disjointed missions in between swathes of filler fetch/kill/collection quests. I'm still waiting for that part the reviews all mentioned where after 15 hours of so of boredom it suddenly becomes interesting. Maybe they got to the credit roll at that point.

Per my earlier prediction, this is indeed DA2.5. If you like open world games there is a shitload of stuff to soothe your OCD, but if you wanted something more akin to Origins then keep moving.

As much as one can hate kickstarter/crowdfunding (and to be fair there's plenty of reasons to hate kickstarter/crowdfunding... look at Star Citizens) it really did help bring us many good games that would simply have not been possible without it.

All that media frenzy that happened last year (was it last year?) has more or less paid off.

But of course DA:I is the best RPG eva \o/

I agree that the plot structure in DAO was better and had a stronger narrative focus but the plot itself was nothing more than a collection of fantasy tropes/cliches with an occasional nice quest/character here and there.

DA2's story was much more compelling - with the whole mage/templar conflict fleshed out, the Qunari's aternative to turmoil, terrorism etc. The execution was spotty at best even if you discount all the gameplay shortcomings but the main themes were much more interesting.

I must be the only one who thinks every Bioware story is very formulaic and good at best, so I'm not disappointed. It's as good/bad as the previous games imo. What I do like is that it's toned down a bit, I didn't like Origin's bombastic style.
I don't think I ever truly liked a Bioware story. I like the worlds they create and some of the characters, their stories have always been a thin overarching veil for me.

That's such a bad argument, too. RPG players are generally older while that "white male player" rule mainly applies to games that aim at teenagers. You can bet your socks that American male teenagers won't like to boast about enjoying DA:I to their male friends because of its gay content.

Also DA:I flaunts it way too much from all the clips I've seen. That's not doing it right. Doing it right would be including all those elements while making it feel natural and nothing odd at all. Bioware fail badly here because they make those scenes "OMG LOOK, WE ADDED GAY PEOPLE!".

I like seeing diversity in games but please, dear lord, don't make it such a huge deal. It ruins it.

It's pretty much all avoidable in the actual game. I haven't had Sera tell me she's a dyke, Dorian tell me he's a fag, or Bull tell me he's a... whatever the fuck he is, because I haven't asked. I guess Dorian is a tad flamboyant, but he's not quite the raging queen I was expecting. There's also the (reverse?) tranny that works for Bull, but while it's fairly obvious from the voice, you can avoid all actual discussion of it.

havent played it and dont know much of the story but from some gameplay videos it seems you have to close some kind of rifts? How much of the game consists of this? and I find it odd no ones mentioned yet another game using the boring closing rifts gameplay

Yeah, same here. If you don't go asking for it in the conversations, it never gets in the way of the story/ character interactions. I only knew Bull was into some nasty shit cause of the youtube video ppl posted here Laughing
You know Dorian is a homo cause his "loyalty" mission revolves around it, but he never hits on you like Anders and Zevran. I expected some fagfest, but it's not forced like DA2 and DA: Origins to some extent.
