Lollerzz i'm getting it in the mail today, didnt get it yesterday, and it couldnt have been released earlier?!
Hmm, what to do what to do, since i've bought it, i might as well install properly using the dvd and my unique cdkey, BUT will it work to use the sfcure version mounted afterwards, with that cdkey? :S
Since i gotta unplug my dvd drives to play UFO Aftershock, World Racing 2 etc, i gotta pick
But i cant install via the sfcure version, cuz i need a proper cdkey for future updates and shiiit, right? SIGH
Well can always hope that the sfcure image can work as a sort of mini(huge)-image so i dont have to have my dvd plugged in more than just for installation =D

Unlikely. Apparantly this is the Enlight version. If this IS the enlight version, then it means both the enlight and deepsilver version will use Starforce.
I don't know why you classify those who decided not to install Starforce games a n00bs. I can attribute (and I did a fair amount of research on it) 2 failures of my computer to SF. First my old PCs DVD-RW, then my Old PCs 2nd HDD (120gb. Funnily enough, this is were I kept all isos, legit and other as well as installed my games). Whats that saying about trick me thrice?
I am just hoping that this is really the deepsilver version, or something that was shipped thorugh GoGamer. I am hoping an praying, but I doubt it (They was an option to get the game early through GoGamer, but they were basically shipped in from the UK)
If this REALLY is the Deepsilver release, will the game be re-released? I guess its easy enough to check, when installing it, lookout for publisher logos.

2Baleur it's easy. Install latest version of a120%, run it, select image making wizard, select your drive, choose never separate image, then choose data position measurement, precision high, later select speed 1-4x for dpm. Thats how i made working dvd image of scct...

Good Night,
Maybe this is a newbie question for someone but I have never played a game protected with SF because it is really annoying all the steps that must be followed. But now I really wante to play X3 and my question is the following:
I have installed in my system the original game Silent Hunter III, so I have Starforce in my system. If I follow all the steps to play X3, may the original SH3 interfere with this procedure?. Futhermore, will I be able to play SH3 without troubles?..Thanks...

Well its not that annoying, once you get it set up you can get a game running in just 4 mouse clicks.

i've tried playing this release and followed the nfo step-by-step... when launching the game, it keeps accessing my SATA DVD Burner (Plexwriter 716 SA) and tells me to insert the game into a different drive... you guys got any ideas? and yeah Syco you're absolutely right, I'm not gonna spend 50 bucks on a game I haven't seen in action, which is reportedly not running well on most rigs out there

I got it working without much trouble... from a post I made elsewhere...
woah, that wasn't hard to get it running!?
ok heres what *I* did and it worked like a charm. NO SFNIGHTMARE INVOLVED (!!!) [or well, maybe, depends if it survives reboots or not]
*AT ANY STEP REMOVE THE DATA CABLE FROM YOUR DVD BURNER* (i have just one, a plextor burner)
Patch X3 to 1.2
Remove all starforce crap using their removal tool, reboot since it asks.
Come back, install sfcure "0.3" (i.e. run the setup, so it installs the service), then reboot.
Once you're back:
a) get rid of daemon tools (just its virtual drives and exit it if its running. i did not uninstall it). UNSURE if this was necessary but this was necessary sinec I used d-tools to install it from "G" drive and I wanted that free for...
b) use alcohol 120% latest WITH RPMS EMULATION ON mounting the image
To play the game, start the sfcure service (!start) and then run it! EDIT: Of course the game will reinstall starforce at this point, and may even ask for a reboot. Let it do so, after the reboot start the sfcure service, and run the game!
I did at some point in my trials run sfnightmare but I have NOT run it since my last reboot and guess what, x3 loads!
Now I'm most likely still going to buy it, but this will let me try it out in the meantime. I went to the main menu and OMG it looked laggy but we'll see...
YIKES! Lag is a kind word... P4 2.4Ghz, 1Gig Ram, Radeon 9700. Imho its unplayable at the moment. Sigh.
EDIT: Final note: Like someone else said, the game will launch properly... like 1 in 2 times or something. Sometimes the checking disc prompt will hang. In that case I actually kill protect.exe then X3.exe and wait until all processes calm down (cpu stops being pegged) then just try again. It goes through eventually.
-- nforce people, i'd love to know if you think sfnightmare does permament changes (and thus it IS needed) or if its not needed, because i reboot and all i do is sfcure then run the game!

Baleur's method from the PC Games X3 thread works like a charm...even after u disable the drives MANUALLY, u have to disable them in SFN...Disable CD and Disable Node and use SFcure DOS version, run !start.bat BEFORE u run SFN, make sure ur IDE cable is unplugged, disable cd and disable node, and it will work

I haven't tried it, but I've heard that a prog named winrun pro can help to speed up the game. Check it out at: www.wswpro.de Try to switch off registry and autorun with it.
Peace&out
