Alien Isolation took many things from Dead space (first game). Ripley is like engineer without proper guns like Isaac, finishing this game now and i think developers liked Dead space much.

^My thoughts exactly. They also took the "errand boy/girl" thing, activate the generator, restore power, go pick the meds, etc.

@chiv
Nah sir, didn't said that, probably phrased it inappropriately, what i meant is that they look-a-like. Played DS before this one and hence the resemblance, if Alien:I would have been released before DS games, i would of said the same.
I couldn't care less if devs took inspiration into DS games, I already stated that A:I is the goty for me. So no need to respond in a sarcastic way.

And, apparently, if a post-2008 game has tight, almost claustrophobic, dark, recondite levels, it obviously borrows from and copies Dead Space's level design approach.

pity because i was going to go on to say 3d. alien isolation stole 3d from it too. also space.
you did say 'took'... and that does imply that the situations and the setup was borrowed from dead space, and that really does a disservice to the game...
i think you see the games as being similar because all of those things are pretty generic sci-fi/horror tropes.. the innocuous job description of the hero, the 'quests' out into hostile territories... i would say that the devs were inspired by ALL science fiction games and movies and stories, not just dead space...
and if you really want to get down to it, dead space was heavily inspired by the alien films (and other sci fi horror films and games) to begin with.
