Spot on.

and if you really want to get down to it, dead space was heavily inspired by the alien films (and other sci fi horror films and games) to begin with.

I haven't thought about it this way, you are quite right.

I really find it funny that people miss out on this detail. I can only assume some have not seen the first Alien movie. The main source of inspiration (the movie) is all about claustrophobic hallways ffs. Game is about claustrophobic hallways and yet so few people realize this?
No no. The level design itself is very similar to Dead Space. I mean the parts where they had to fill the missing data which was not shown in the Alien movie. So, instead of making something unique, they made it look like Dead Space [unintentionaly I think], because in corporate world there is a lack of creativity. So the game looks like old school sci fi mixed with Dead Space's modern corridoors. It didnt mix for me very well.

its all in good fun man, just the classic internet pop corn worthy moment when people use a 21st century game/movie/music as a reference point to be copied.

Outside of the evil AI, pretty much everything else in the sci-fi space horror genre owes it all to the 1979 Alien.

Well the audio effects are very close to Dead Space too, when i played I always were thinking Hmm i have heard that before.
Anyway any Dead Space fan would love Alien.

Alien encounter is all fun and games, until you're out of fire capable weapons (flamethrower, molotovs, etc).

We’ve seen a number of players with extremely strong dispositions demand more challenges for their Alien: Isolation encounter – another try at survival against tougher odds.

In response to your requests, we’ve created Nightmare Mode, a new difficulty level, which should challenge players to beat the ultimate Alien: Isolation experience.

Explore the world of Sevastopol with a motion tracker featuring a damaged display and undependable information. Resources will be even more limited, the map systems have gone offline and fellow survivors and synthetics are even more deadly and aggressive.

In this heightened, terrifying atmosphere, our Alien will be hunting you like never before. With an upgraded AI that has amplified its fatal hostility, every step you take may be your last. Our monster is more adaptive, learning from your tactics with chilling speed and with intensified senses that will give you no second chances…

Damn them, wish this was available for my virgin playhrough Sad

Agreed, please, keep the original title. There are enough duplicate threads as-is.

Finding this thread is still quite easy. Using only 'alien' as a search query still lists the thread in the top results. But I agree that this new title is simply plain stupid.

Just started this from the beginning, I had played very little of it before I got distracted by other games anyway.

So I just crafted my first medkit and the game keeps telling me "Hold R to activate."

How does this annoying message go away since I don't plan to use my medkit?

I had that issue too, went away eventually or maybe I ended up using a medkit later on, don't quite remember but I guess the game expects you to be badly injured so you are meant to use it immediately.

I complied Sad

And I am playing with a gamepad. I just didn't want to confuse humpers because if I say "X" they might understand the keyboard key "X" instead of the gamepad one.

Anyway I just met the Alien. The writing is a little disappointing (not bad, so far) and the game's cutscenes are straight out of a horror movie! You won't believe how horrific the "uncanny valley" phenomenon is in this game. Ripley's face.. Kill it with fire!!! Or alien acid! Whatever works best!

I'm still waiting for someone to invent a fully working Neuralyzer module usable after finishing the best games, so we can erase everything and re-enjoy them de novo. I would literally abuse it for this game, who knows when a horror game this good will see the light again Very Happy

Is this the complete A: I content that's been put out by crackers so far?
 Spoiler:

Which order should I install all of these in? Do FTS's updates work on CODEX's release? I don't see FTS ever having gotten out the main game, only the aforementioned updates.

Corporate Lockdown is just new challenge maps? Are they added in FTS' update 3? Their .nfo states that it includes the deluxe edition of the game. I presume CL is there as well?

Now something else. The team wants to make a sequel and they talk "daily" about it: http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/alien_isolation/news/alien_isolation_sequel_a_daily_topic_at_creative_assembly.html

Quote:
"The plot for a sequel is a daily topic in the studio sometimes," Napper told AvPGalaxy. "People have their own ideas for where it should go, our writers have some solid concepts and yes, we do have a great opportunity to continue her story."

"I think the action oriented 'Aliens' style game is very different from what Isolation is," he continued. "If we made a sequel I would like to stick to the same terrifying single Alien approach but do more with the environment and interactivity within it."

Truth be told I wouldn't want them to make more of the same. I'd like them to make a Terminator game instead. Smile So Much Win

As long as they stick to this concept, gameplay mechanics and overall realization, I'm game. The main villain could indeed be a Terminator stalking you relentlessly through an abandoned Skynet-struck wreckage of a building. At night. With great scarcity of resources and... hope. Yes, I definitely want something like that. So Much Win
