Rewatched this recently, they really dont make them like this anymore, or in the same genre for the matter.
Try Pandorum, its quite good with simmilar premise/setting, imo an underrated movie. Also I rewatched event horizon few months ago and it did age a bit, lots of stuff came out rather funny now, not too much tension.
Very underrated movie!
I'd also like to add Sunshine to the list of space horrors.
Yes i have seen every single sci fi movie out there, pandorum although not as good as event horizon, is still entertaining, the plot is cool, some of the production and special effects are not so good though
Movies like sunshine and pandorum are the usual suspects, but i guess i have seen pretty much everything thats avaiable and worth at least a try in the sci fi world, i wish we had more movies like these.
I second (or third) Pandorum from 4-5+ years back.. Fantastic bleak space-faring sci-fi movie with a satisfying ending! Way better than I thought it would be.

Well there arent much of them unfortunately. Apollo 13 was meh, something with mars (last days on mars?) was also meh, theres also europa report but I didnt watch that yet.
Europa Report is
Pandorum is , couldn't finish it. But maybe I should give it a second chance..
Sunshine is even though the sudden change of.. genre removes some points from it..
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
Btw, those who have seen Predestination (seems quite a few), can you please answer my question, posted a few pages back?.
As this movie presents time in a single fixed history (see also Timecrimes), it seems there's a paradox with the big bombing event, the main driving force in the movie for timetravel in the first place.
(obviously this whole movie is one huge paradox, but this is another one I guess )
Spoiler:
So in the end, did that big NY bombing that would kill 10.000 actually occur? Or was it just a purpose, given to him by that Robertson character? "Find the guy that kills all those people". In the end, he does exactly that; he kills his older self (the one who was planning it) the day before the bombing.
The final shot of the movie is him sitting in his apartment before the device. which implies he's about to use it, to start doing the earlier bombings and initiate the whole cat and mouse chase between him and his younger self. As it was his older self planning the big one, and he's dead, and his younger self isn't yet in the right (crazy) mindset to go through with it, the event never occurred.
holy shit, great movie!
the twist was obvious from about 2/3 into the movie but it was still well executed and satisfying.
some thoughts:
Spoiler:
so does he become the fizzle bomber just out of pure schizophrenia or is it to justify the existence of the agency so that he can go on looping and that way keeping himself in existence?
jane meeting young john first time, she must have noticed that they look pretty much the same, but even if she didnt at that point, she surely must have noticed years later while gradually turning into a man, that she and john are the same person?

the plot isnt perfect, but its great nontheless.
when you listen to what he said,
Spoiler:
he said when he looked in the mirror he was even 'reminded' of the man who ruined her life, so i take that to mean she figured 'in her mind' that she connected her new look with the memory of the guy who ruined her life, so she wouldnt have made that direct connection HOLY SHIT IT WAS ME, her emotional reaction to his new look mixed with the memory of his face kinda merged into an idea of hatred and self loathing.
basically if you follow my really crappy way of explaining it, youll understand why he never realised it was himself.
as for the first question, i guess its up to the viewer... maybe it was the loneliness and self-loathing returning that drove him to become hateful, maybe it was his attempts to correct wrongdoings through continued time jumps that led to continued psychological trauma that finally unravelled him and twisted his ideals as to how best to accomplish his mission... the one thing im sure of, was that he didnt do it on purpose to ensure his looped existance OR for the benefit of the agency, OR to 'make sure time happens as its supposed to', because that would both be stupid AND fly against his nature for the entire film (his rage at finding out what he'd done, his determination that he would never be like his future self, and his disgust at what he had done... the idea that after ALL that, he just shrugs and says 'fuck it, why not... lets do this' just sounds ridiculously stupid.
the film actually really had me... up until the last 10 minutes. Before that point, id have given it a solid 7 i think, maybe even 7.5?
but then...
Spoiler:
that bit in the lab. It starts off really cool, giving me a kind of abandoned research lab where bad shits gone down vibe, a real disaster... that sense of 'oh shit, something epic bad happened here to cause everything in the film to happen'... but then it all falls to shit when we get some explanation of 'earth has been burned up, but we used magic to make a beautiful oasis in the middle of a desert... why? to give humanity a chance? no, we made this wonderful place just to scare some kids, because theres a new plague going around, and you guys are resistant, and we need to scan your brains and scare you and science science science! thats right, we made a desert oasis to put some kids in so that we could scare them. yay!'
its just fucking retarded... we need to scare you because scared brain activity makes a cure.. or something... ugh.
and then the whole science team is executed because why the fuck not. plot twist, the creepy lady is still alive, because evil evil evil yay!
NOW i actually suspect... and indeed fucking HOPE... that everything revealed in the lab to the kids was a complete lie... a red herring, for whatever reason..., and i actually would admire that. I like movies that have the balls to play a long game, to tell a purposeful lie, while all along having the actual occurrences line up and move towards a completely different endgame, that makes SENSE and REASONS for the lie to cover it up.
THAT SAID, I DONT GIVE POINTS WHEN THE LIE IS AS SHITTILY CONSTRUCTED AND AS NONSENSICAL AS THIS. If you're going to lie to me, at least make it a coherent and interesting lie.
so yeah, lie or not, the endings stupidity really killed an otherwise enjoyable film, taking it for a potential 7.5 down to a 6 - it was still a mostly enjoyable film, that just shat on itself a bit with a really poorly handled ending.
ALSO, it was really dumb having
Spoiler:
the crazy dude show up at the end. I mean yeah he killed one of those things, grabbed the entry key device, but to make it to them as quickly as he did, and for him to figure out the keycode (understand the significance and actually remember the numbers, when hes been 'stung'), it was just put in for shock value, and was totally stupid.

I suggest you grab hold to something and read about the 3 books about this thing (yeah, it will be a movie trilogy).
You are seeing just one iteration (you keep following the same version of the girl), so there's nothing duplicating although it may appear so. But certain details are always a bit different.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
Everyone here needs to watch Time Crimes if you haven't.
sar·casm | \ ˈsär-ˌka-zəm \
1: a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain
2a: a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual
b: the use or language of sarcasm
It's difficult to picture all the timelines in Triangle, as you constantly have 4 or 5 versions of the same girl on the ship, at the same time. And each version is affecting the other ones (hence why no scene is 100% the same, because of all the little butterfly effects). Plus, you are only following 1 version in the movie. As a viewer you have to figure out yourself how the other versions eventually come to be, but you are given all the required clues to do so.
I guess you could say that each version of the girl is like a helix on a timeline, and you have 4 or 5 helixes crossing each other.
Apparently, it took the director/writer 4 years to write this without plotholes, which I can quite understand It's the most complex timetravel story I've ever seen, and it makes perfectly sense
I'm getting tired of these type of movies. Always seems to go about the same thing.
Bad acting, cringe worthy characters/dialogues and writing overall. The film could have been better in a more mature setting rather than teenage movie 546546.
The maze is kind of a great idea, but very underutilized. They spent little time in it, it's more about teenage politics and jibber jabber than actual survival. I honestly can't see much difference with flicks like: hunger games, divergent,... fuck can't even remember the other's name because they are so forgettable.
It's sad that they keep wasting money on mediocrity, I think there could be a good film buried under all the drab of most of them. But when you go PG-13, aim for the teens with inexperienced teen actors you just said yourself up for bland, repetitive and mediocre done movies. I didn't need teen actors in my teen years so I wonder why they think they HAVE to do it now.
I thought this was pretty good, but it was also pretty predictable by the half way point
Yes, it's a good time-travel movie. I don't think it's predictable. Maybe it's just me though. In these kind of movies I try not to guess what's going to happen and let myself go with the "script flow".
In other news:
The Inbetweeners 2
Much better than the first one and some good laughs in specific scenes. I still hate those forced scenes with really vulgar jokes (I don't know if this is the right word, English is not my native language). Maybe I'm too old for this kind of "jokes".
P.S Loved the series. Every season. (UK ofc)
7.0/10
Next viewing is Nightcrawler. I hope is good but the plot does not intrigue me tbh.
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
