@sunny4u

Six hours to go, apparently. Looks like they pushed the launch back a bit.

It's how you combat piracy. No .exe -> no pirate will play the game.

Damn, the switch from isometric to full 3d has not been kind to this franchise. It looks average at best and the control's fluidity seems to have suffered as well.

On top of that... HOW THE HELL IS IT POSSIBLE that I get the same framerate on this that I get on The Evil fucking Within?? Is it just me or performance is complete shit? For a game with fixed prospective I really wasn't expecting it. I'm getting 33fps @ 720p on a laptop that can do 40fps on Wolfenstein the New Order @ 1080p... ridiculous.

Performance isn't that good but it's good enough here.

I can play it fully maxed in 1920x1440 @ 60fps ((in 2560x1440=30fps...) with FXAA. Sometimes drops to 45fps depending of the situation but overall 60fps.

But considering the game graphics when zoomed in, performances should be better, the game barely look any better than LCGOL and it was running on PS360...

Oh well I guess cuz of the pony tail moving (no TressFX :DDD)

The game is good though, I like it, but you need to play it with a gamepad. Unplayable with keyboard + mouse.

'Bad performance and better if played with a gamepad': should be the official tagline of this whole 2014 Very Happy Laughing

Thanks for the impressions guys, will download it tonight. The Guardian of Light was incredibly solid, here's hoping the gameplay holds up well in this one too. My biggest fear is the bro-op being too invasive this time around, hope it's not the case. Razz

Nah performance isn't that bad either. Re-read again, I'm trying to play it in 1440p here, on a mobility GPU. So it's not really surprising per se. As long as a game runs at 60fps fully maxed in 1080p, then I consider this quite good performance-wise. For sure it could have been better, but it's not that terrible either.

And yes, mock me all you want, but this game is arcadish, and I'd rather play arcade games with my gamepad rather than keyboard + mouse, just like I'd rather play Street Fighter with a gamepad... Same shit with Telltales games, playing them on keyboard is terrible because you need to spam keys and arrows on a keyboard, and it doesn't make any sense compared to a gamepad (probably why most PC gamers hate QTE, they are more complicated and ridiculous on keyboards, and less immersive).

Cant mantain 60fps with two 980 at 1080p with MSAAx4 (I added LC2.exe to Tomb Raider Profile via inspector and SLI works properly), so I agree that performance is truly awful.

MSAAx4 is killing performances in this game that's why. Just don't enable MSAA and push up the resolution above 1080p, that's what I did Smile

Well that's not MSAA so yeah that's going to cause a performance hit compared to FXAA. Smile
(It's SSAA, if I remember it right at 4x you are running the game at twice - 200% - your chosen display resolution and at 2x or 2.25x which is also popular it's something like 150%.)

That's right it's SSAA not MSAA, which is why it is indeed killing performances Smile (supersampling if i'm not wrong).

And if you wanna laugh, I can tell you the game has a hard time maintening 60 fps on ps4, it drops to 40 fps easily a lot I would say, specially when it's zoomed out to the maximum.

Basically the game runs definitely better on my iMac than it does on ps4 on an inferior resolution... So the PC version isn't that badly optimized after all Very Happy

So, as usual it's just fps and that crap being discussed. How is the actual game? I enjoyed The guardian of light. Is it as good?

It seems to play pretty much the same although in a different setting and with four characters instead of two (For multiplayer, in SP it seems you will always be Lara.) and now there's some inventory management for alternate outfits, extra weapons and rings which give passive bonuses (Can be both good or bad depending on ring quality.) and amulets which give larger active combo bonuses (Like being able to shoot fire bullets or bouncing shots.)

I only played through the first level and reached the hub (Where there's also now a community chest for DLC content and who knows what else.) seems pretty linear so far although I guess as you unlock more abilities (If there's anything like that.) you can reach other areas or replay previous levels to get any missed content like various collectibles.

Graphics look nice but the game is pretty demanding even without SSAA 2x or 4x and I don't like the voice acting as it sounds well I don't really know, it sounds overdone or how to say it plus the dialogue itself seems like something from some B grade 70's - 80's action movie. Razz
(Which could be intentional really.)

EDIT: Actually the "B grade action movie" thing might be a throwback to the first game since it also was a bit like that from what little I remember.

I remember this concept art from a PC Gamer article many (many) years ago. Razz
http://tombeaucroft.net/tomb-raider-1-concept-art/
(Not quite on par with some of the other concept art like say Diablo 1 or various Ultima and Wizardry games but it's not really comparable, really loved those black & white sketches. Very Happy )
