While I am far from saying Ubicrap=Rockstar, but after IV I wouldn't have high hopes.
I prefer to have nice suprise than high hopes and get yet another disappointment.

Its not about having hopes about how the game will run but why it gets delayed. Certainly its not because "they wanted to optimize it even further". All delays of the PC version are due to marketing reasons and have nothing to do with the performance of the game.

There's still the promised camera / moviemaker mode in the PC version. Given that this had quite an impact on the longevity of GTAIV on PC, I might imagine rockstar is putting in some more effort into this mode on GTAV than many of us might think. They already surpassed overall expectations for the nextGen version of the game, I see no reason to believe they'll just come out with something half-assed for PC in terms of new features.

It's not about being half-assed with features, it's about being half-assed with a buggy, unoptimised, system-rapey port. Just like GTA IV.

I think most here never even expected the first person thingy or that much of an improvement like the PC version is going to be now. There's only been doubts about the performance, not the features or that the game isn't great.
Of course I'm being more positive with the horrible IV Port dating back to 2008 and R* having their quality sense improved to unforeseen ideas and attention to detail, they built up massive Rep since a while and I highly doubt they'll risk a UbiFiasco™ with UbiPerformance™, they rather would use the advantage they have over others now and potentially sell even more.
It remains to be seen and I'm quite open to being wrong (but I don't hope for that), but with another delay announced in January or New Years (which would be too late) even a cheap double dip wouldn't come to my mind. Even R* has a line they shouldn't cross with the 'fans' and that could have a terrible outcome for them.
