Haha! It wouldn't be Ubi without the drama. Their marketing guys really have something special that other companies don't have..definitely should write an essay on How to scare away customers.
The latest Heroes game I seriously played was HoMMII,loved to death. never finished it tough.
3 I skipped because at those times my family didn't have the PC able to run it or something+took time to know about it's existence. play a bit of 4 years after, tired of it fast.
now that I'm pretty much independent for years. I might give it a try when the HD version arrives, always when mentioning this at people I know, they said:"Heroes 3 is the best",Ironically,my Elder brother didn't liked it,though he is the one introduce me to Heroes 2.

If you loved HoMM 2, you're going to love HoMM 3. But some patience is needed, as always with these kinds of games. I wouldn't recommend Ubi's "remaster", but to look for some kind of complete edition and the HD mod.
Campaigns and story are excellent, graphics and music blend perfectly. Art style and quality in HoMM 3, more than 15 years after it's original release are still a golden standard, much like HL2 for FPSs.
If you haven't played HoMM 3 at all, or only very little I recommend Heroes Chronicles, a standalone campaign series centered on one character.
The crisp, sharp menu buttons and game graphics are very pleasing to the eye, and I haven't noticed any alterations or additions. However I've played a lot of original H3 (WoG and Chronicles with HD) just 1-2 years ago and I wasn't ever bothered with the old graphics there either.
So we got a barebones H3 that I don't see why anyone would ever want to play on desktop. I think VCMI works on mobile now and that's a lot better game. Maybe they don't port the complete game to avoid competition for H7.
Anyway, it's worth a 1 GB download to see a high definiton vision of the original - this game is the kind of art that doesn't depreciate over time.
I think it was posted earlier in this thread that there apparently was a source asset issue with the expansion content but there might be other reasons too.
(Another old game with lost or partially lost source code and assets then.)

People at Heroes Community instantly reacted to this, and some guy claimed to know that the Russian company that localized the game has the source for all the games.
Anyway it's not like adding conflux and a few artifacts was too difficult. Ubi have a reason for doing this, either testing the waters and then releasing more stuff, or just building up hype for H7 or something.
If they have the code and assets and choose to release the expansions as paid DLC later on I think the community is going to be pretty pissed but who knows what they are planning with this update.
There's the other 3DO/New World Computing Heroes games too although I think this was the most popular of them all so from that standpoint it probably makes sense to begin with this.
Haven't read them yet so I'm unsure why at the moment but this seems to be getting a lot of negative reviews for some reason.
Most probably because the game comes without the two expansions so it has missing features that everyone takes for granted when they play Heroes 3 (since every plays the complete edition).
So I'm installing game with reloaded installer into my strategy games folder, and I notice I forgot to enter custom directory for the game. I cancel the installation and the installer manages to delete my whole strategy folder.
