World of Tanks is wildly successful, I doubt there's any comparison population-wise.

This is a good article:

I don't think WT has anything over WOT.

Armored Warfare might have some hope though, fingers crossed.

War thunder is actually fun game, while WoT is just grind to next tier, just to realize there is tier after and another tier after and so on, unless you enjoy playing according to made up rules.

Both are different games, but I never looked back at WoT after starting with War Thunder, first was just grind to next level, second I play because it is actually a fun game to play.

wot would be better than wt if they limited the matchmaking to a single tier.
atm wot is horrible if you get a tank without upgrades.
even with max upgrades its almost impossible to damage a tank 2 tiers higher

It's far from impossible but you need to attack the sensitive spots and not from the front. WoT is a lot of fun except during weekends when all the kids are playing creating very unbalanced teams.

how does it becomes less painful, game should be fun on its own , and not "more" fun because you have to play 500 games instead of 1000 for next upgrade or w/e

The thing is (imo) that you dont have to play ten billion games...I personally (even though I haven most levels in both games) enjoy the lower level most. And to get everything there you dont have to play alot.

Well personally after being able to rush 2 tanks to tier 8 and a bunch others to tier 6 with a subscription i just stopped caring about the grind and just enjoy the game with the tanks i had.

Except the matches where i had to face tanks 2 levels above me ofc, that happens at all tiers and its very annoying

I had your mind set first aswell when I played WOT, but after quitting several times, I realized it was only because I was shit at the game and you can't enjoy something you are shit at.
Do your research and become actually good at the game and suddenly you are having fun! 99% of the players in this game have no clue on what they are doing anyway.

This. Don't play it to grind, play it to have fun. Don't play tanks you don't enjoy, just free exp past them if you want something after it.
I didn't wanna play any lower tier mediums so I just free expd the Obj 416 straight away, problem solved, didn't have to play shit tanks and could play a tank that I actually enjoy playing.

That is why you just free exp the top gun for every tank you unlock. No point in playing stock tanks if you don't have to, you are just hindering yourself and your team.
You get free exp constantly and even if you don't save it up, just convert it with gold, ezpz.

And your last point is wrong in most cases, very rarely are you unable to do anything as a bottom tier tank, Heavies are the ones that mostly struggle as bottom tier but even then you can usually manage with map knowledge and skills, your average player isn't very good and can be outplayed pretty easily.

The very though of research to become good in WOT pisses me off, with its unrealistic mechanics and gameplay I was never bad, but whole camp camp camp gameplay is beyond boring, I had those 10 kills games as well and is sure as fuck fun to get a ram kill while flying of hill as a heavy, then proceed to wthpwn everyone else in your way, but those games a far between.

Whole 1 tank per match is flawed , I never had to imagine that War Thunder is not about grind, the way you have for WOT, because War thunder is just fun 90% of the time and I want to come back because of that and not because I want that upgrade or tank.

I dislike the reasearch in WT.

Too few upgrades. Too few details.

"New engine"

wtf does that mean? the old engine is replaced by new

but some vehicles went through 3-4 engines in their lifespan in the war, 1-2 different guns

everything is split into 10 vehicles.. wtf is that shit, with no details of differences between the vehicles

Considering that most tanks couldnt fit new gun ever, I highly doubt they went through more than 1 gun, I am not a tank geek so I might be wrong, but saw couple documentaries and all of them were pretty much " wanted to fit new weapon to combat new tanks, so new model was needed as old one couldn't fit new gun " . I can bet that WOT is completely unrealistic in that regard.

What do you mean by " split into 10 vechiles" ?

You're wrong, consider:

StuG 3 and Pz4 went through 2 guns
75mm L/43
75mm L/48
both interchange-able
and an additional 105mm howitzer, that might need some modifications to fit where the 75mm was

In WoT these are 2 vehicles, in WT these are around 6-8 different vehicles

Jagdpanzer IV went through 3 guns:
75mm L/43
75mm L/48
75mm L/70

In WoT these are 1 vehicle, in WT these are 4 different vehicles

So far the only place I've seen WoT style upgrades are the underwing gun/cannon pylons for some planes, most noticeable Bf-109 series.

In WT at some points you'll have 2 very similar vehicles, with same stats and looks, but having 1 letter different in their names, and you only learn the difference between them if you go into the wikipedia to research about them, and even there it might say that the 2-nd one received some change or another but there is no notice-able difference between them in the game..

And that is why skill has nothing to do with WT, where in WOT skill actually matters.

I mean I think WOT rng can be pretty dumb at times but WT being realistic = Pure rng, zero skill based gameplay.

That is why WOT is way more fun, it actually takes skill to play unlike WT and it's rng mechanics. "Realistic", if that is what you wish to call it, doesn't exactly equal fun, getting oneshotted constantly is hardly fun if you ask me.
Sure it can be fun for a bit but WOT has a way longer lifespan than WT ever will.

Um there is plenty of skill needed for WT, I dont consider obscure and made up rules for "skill" its not skill is game limitations enforced as "rules " which then becomes " skill " as fun in any way, and thats is all WOT about, silly sight range, silly hp calculations , where is skill in that?

Camping 24/7 and so forth, you can and often will get one shot in WT, but 90% of the time that happened because you were bad, 9% of enemy ammo type and 1% of actual rng.

But who cares, I found War Thunder much more fun, only time WOT was fun when you are top tier, or back in beta, because if you played a lot you were always top tier.
Being op is always fun...

Ps WT released new patch today, with loads of fixes/balances/new features, USA tank tree and loads more.

Well, simply put, whoever claims WOT isn't about skill is wrong.

WT on the other hand is very debatable when it comes to requiring any sort of skill.

On WOT related news:
Free exp'd the B-C 25t today, got sick of grinding on the 13 90 so thought why not.
A fun tank it is.

Even had a few good games in it:

but...why? IMO, the amx13 --> lorry --> batchat grind is the most enjoyable of any tree. those 3 are the tanks that reward good habits and intelligence the most while punishing idiots in the worst way possible Laughing

Lorr 40t is just uptiered 50 100 (almost) and I absolutely hate playing scouts, they got no carrying potential at all.

If you ask me, the most enjoyable tree I have ever played was the french heavy line, up from tier 5 there are zero bad tanks in that line if you ask me.
