I'm astounded Gabe actually contacted the devs himself. Looks like both Valve *and* Destructive Creations just got themselves a fuckton of free PR! Valve takes down a game, draws simultaneous ire from fans *and* praise from detractors ... loads of news coverage on all the major gaming sites. The Destructive Creation guys get a massive influx of free publicity and hits to their site and FB page. Gabe himself then contacts the team and apologises, restoring the game, bam! Good will word of mouth and another enormous dose of free publicity.
