Had to leave some good ones out, plus didn't consider early access/beta games (pCars etc.) and demos (Ground Zeroes ). The first three all share the winrar badge!
1 ) Divinity: OS (One of the most enjoyable combat systems that I've had the pleasure to play. Varied, with freedom to experiment and need to use the brain. Doesn't matter if the story isn't exactly epic, when there's the fun, there's everything)
1 ) Alien Isolation (The Alien game that the poor, mistreated beast needed to redeem itself after years of constant public embarrassments and colon issues. A shame that Jonesey wasn't part of the crew expendable, but it's all forgiven)
1 ) Wasteland 2 (Great post-apocalyptic atmosphere *check*. Satisfying dialogues not written for 10 year olds *check*. Choices->consequences *check*. The combat could have been a bit more varied, but we can't have everything, eh. Still damn noice)
4 ) Wolfenstein (From the Riddick people, a linear, irreverent shooter with the right balance of follow and hand-holding, and almost no bloodyscreensoreal, which is something that we don't witness every day. Cowabooty calls be damned)
5 ) South Park The Stick of Truth (The fact that you can't tell if you're playing the game, or watching yet another brilliant episode, says enough about this solid Obsiwork - as per tradition)
6 ) Styx: Master of Shadows (It took a damn Goblin to restore the lack of proper stealth games, shame on you next gen bald Agent 47s and Thie4es. Great level design also, feels like the 2000s men)
7 ) Valiant Hearts (Yet another proof that Ubisoft should ditch their fallacious AAA department completely, and start focusing on these kind of games only. The world would be a better place, surely with less anger and hatred)
8 ) The Evil Within (The fact that I managed to enjoy the game at glorious 30fps with floaty mouse controls already says a lot. A survival horror where you can't just go ahead and Rambo people like a madman needs some recognition. More of this and less booresidents of pews 'n gears pl0x)
9 ) Dark Souls 2 & Dee El Cheese (Its design was objectively worse than Dark Souls 1's, suffered a major downgradeton because the upcoming full-lighting-friendly ne3t g3n pumped up versions ain't gonna sell themselves, and so on. But it still was a great experience, with the usual rewarding exploration, and good old ranting sessions involving flipping tables and all)
10 ) PES 2015 (We got a version that looks like something coming from 2005's Luke Chadwick's personal album, which truly is an embarrassment, but if you're looking for a football game that doesn't play like ping pong and doesn't involve Ju Gi Oh cards, well this is the one)

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."

Hmm tough one this year indeed. Was a shitty glitchy year but I will try.
1. Wolfenstein The New Order
2. Dragon Age Inquisition
3. South Park The Stick of Truth
4. Alien Isolation
5. Divinity Original Sin
6. Tropico 5
7. Contagion
8. Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor

10.
Those might not be in a real order really. I cant mention some games that might have made the list like FarCry 4 because my Graphics card just cannot run them
And the last two spots I must leave empty... Could not fill them. It was really hard to actually fill them eight spots...
As I previously mentioned in some other thread I will not be ready for a definitive list until I play a few remaining big contenders, like Wasteland 2 and South Park: The Stick of Truth (getting them on the current Steam Sale). But I think I can safely say that 3 games will finish in my top 10 and very likely in my top 5 as well: Dark Souls II, Alien: Isolation and The Talos Principle.
BTW, The Talos Principle is so far my Indie Game of the Year, just like Antichamber was last year
Other 2014s gaming releases I really enjoyed this year, in no particular order:
- BF4 Final Stand DLC
- SOuls 2
- FarCry4
- Mordor Shadow
- Diablo expansion
- Child of Light
- Wolfenstein
- Dragon Age
- WOW expansion
There are others I expect to be great but haven't played them long enough:
- Valiant hearts
- Transistor
- Wasteland
Well I for one don't like strategy games at all and stupid stealth games where you do nothing but crouch all game. Lets just say there wasn't that many games for me this year.
