Counting on Genny’s weakness and lack of leadership, Ciro immediately tries to fill the Savastano’s vacant throne, only to clash with Imma’s determination to keep their kingdom in the family. And a kingdom indeed it is, with ramifications for the global estate market (the Camorra had invested in the reconstruction of Ground Zero) as well as the abstract speculations of the financial world
The movie was definitely interesting (and scarily realistic, since it was more like a documentary, something akin to The Wire). Haven't watched the series yet, but I will for sure. I've heard good things about it
On a side note, one of the actors got arrested some weeks ago for being part of a mafia-related group, and the director himself had to pay a bribe to one of the clans in order to be able to shoot the series

PS Tbh I'm not sure these subtitles are good. I checked some of them and I got the impression that they were google translated and then edited or maybe the guy who created them is kinda bad at English Maybe I'll give the first episode a try later today just to see whether subs make any sense

Yeah, I can imagine. Unfortunately there's always a huge problem when it comes to such delicate productions, since the language spoken isn't Italian, but Neapolitan (a very strong dialect, that I also fail to grasp at times). I believe only an official job can get rid of these "lost in translation" issues, because it's not an easy task.

Very brave guy, and as you can expect, going against the camorra/mafia basically ruined and is still ruining his personal life. Thankfully his efforts to raise awareness and fight this huge issue have been noticed (even though politicians can't do anything to fix it..because they are involved themselves, eh )

Finished it. I really liked it.It was gritty, dark... No good guys here. I'm definitely looking forward to season 2. I just hope it will be released with english subtitles sooner than the first season was.
6 episodes in, this series is of a superb quality. Such great writing, acting (particularly the guy playing Ciro does a great job), oh and the music is so freaking good, never heard of Mokadelic before but their tracks are so atmospheric and fitting. No really lovable characters here (yet many with admirable traits), well, maybe Genny a little, poor guy was born in the wrong family, but that's a good thing in this show.
I heard from ixi that S2 is coming in 2016, I'm relieved that I won't have to wait too long after finishing this first season

It's even more impressive (and hard to believe especially for foreigners) when you think that despite some obvious fictionalizing, everything is fundamentally real.

As always though I'll have to wait for the subtitles too, the neapolitan dialect is a tough beast to understand even for an italian
