Michael Kohlhaas (2013)

6.5/10

Beautiful cinematography, good acting, Mads is awesome as always, however, the film is kinda boring, I don't like the way the story unfolds.

The Drop - 8/10

A damn solid movie, I too liked it a lot. Tom Hardy was incredibly convincing and his character had very unique traits, essential for the story to unwrap nicely. Slow paced (which is always a plus for me Razz), with good writing and direction, it was great to see James Gandolfini going out on a high note, too.
eeeeeeeehhhhh, except for the "minor" detail of whom gandolfini enlists for help in the final act of the movie. That was fucking stupid, especially taking into account what you know from his character.

Haha yeah, I see what you mean. It was so going to backfire, there was failure written all over it. Though..

Great animated movie, could work as a great Christmas movie although it's not related to Christmas Very Happy can't imagine how long it took them to make it, the patience needed, damn.

Fury - 9/10

One of the best war movies in a looong while, nothing comes to mind except some South Korean movies maybe. Best tank movie ever, although I can't remember who takes second place.

Fury 5/10 - Nice action shots and that's about it. They should have made all the german soldiers children like those at the beginning, because they sure seem to be acting like ones during all the combat sequences. Conveniently missing perfectly aimable shots, not firing, not using anti tank weapons, running in front of machine gun fire, opening up tank hatches they know are manned and getting shot in the face, repeatedly, etc.

Above mentioned was my primary issue with the movie but additionally I found the characters uninteresting, especially the very bland lead. They tried to convey the transformation of this good guy clerk into a proper nazi killing machine, but shows like band of brothers do it so much better. And I have no clue what they were going for with the other character personalities, it was lost on me. Characters remind me of Tarantinos work, especially Inglorius Basterds, but his characters are usually more exaggerated than realistic, while here they seem to be both and the writer can't decide which one to go for. If they were going for realistic then band of brothers does it miles better, if exaggerated inglorius basterds does it much better.

this is the end 1/10
this film was fucking terrible
these films feel like they didn't bother writing a script at all
just a rough outline of a story and improvise 90 minutes
and NONE of it is even slightly clever, or even trying to be
just reminds me of this bit;

Leviathan (2012)

I don't usually do this, but 2/10

Just turned it off, I can't remember the last time I saw such rubbish. It fails as an artistic piece, it fails as a documentary, it fails at having any kind of coherence or emotional connection... It was just utterly dreadfully made, and the people responsible for it should feel ashamed.

Fury: 5/10 - Love well produced war movies, but having just watched Band Of Brothers for the 5th time, this was nowhere near that quality. It will keep you entertained for a few hours, but thats it. Characters were a cliché, the tough but nice leader, his friend, the dick, the new guys, the Mexican.

They didn't bother writing a script. It's typical Hollywood crap like The Interview.

The Imitation Game - loved it. Quite sad story indeed, but the one many need to see. A brilliant man, who in the end killed himself because who he was. Sad to see things like this still happen, for such unimportant reasons.

Was it rather he killed himself because his own country prosecuted and slowly destroyed him mentally? (I didn't watched the movie just asking how they portrayed it?)

Just saw it, my thoughts exactly. Didn't care for any of the characters. There was an idea there, but they squander it and went with the fireworks
