So i'm playing GTA:LCS and VCS on PPSSPP, tho i rather have the PS2 controls (getting sick of the auto camera on the PSP version)..
But compared to the PSP, the PS2 version look really blurry...

So in LCS i just arrived at the second island, so i doubt i'll restart on PS2 version. But i'm thinking of playing the VCS on PS2 version instead of PSP.. Tho i'll be having the same issue..
Anything i can set in PCSX2 so the graphics are more clear/sharper and not so stretched out? (yes i did tick the nvidia option in the GFX plugin)

ps: these settings i use on PCSX2:

You could try trimming the post processing effects in play if the blurriness is due to bloom effects and such. http://pcsx2.net/config-guide/official-english-pcsx2-configuration-guide.html#Gfx

@consolitis

i tried values between 1 and 100 even, but 0 change.. I think i read somewhere (tho it was for the PSP version), that the GTA games use a different kind of rendering (thus framebuffer rendering is needed on PPSSPP for example), don't know if this is the same for the PS2 version tho.

@JBeckman: Well, I don't think it's quite like that.

This: https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/1794 says "merged" so yeah, downloading a build from that above link should include it.

These two: https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/1798 & https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/1804 say "open" so they haven't yet been merged..

The build from here: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-unofficial-ishiiruka-dolphin-custom-version has merged the "overclocking CPU" feature. But it hasn't merged the "~60% performance increase in Rebel Strike" commit yet.

edit unless he doesn't want these latest features? Perhaps I misunderstood.

I got the build of dolphin that has the zfreeze hack in place to i can play RS2 and 3 now, but it doesnt have the overclocking or better performace for RS2 (60% increase or whatever)

Holy. Fuck. There's a zfreeze hack! Shocked

Dude seems to be getting near constant 60, with some rough/scratchy drops at times, on a stock i5-4570. I have to test this on my own sys! Very Happy

~edit~

I got sick and tired of F-Zero GX still running like dog shit, despite many others with vastly inferior machines running it flawlessly, so I wiped *everything* Completely blanked my Dolphin setup and reinstalled. Funny, because now F-Zero runs perfectly. Well, close to, still has the odd hitch/stutter, but yeah.. much better.

~edit~

https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-unofficial-ishiiruka-dolphin-custom-version

I'm using that version now and his async shader compilation options are FANTASTIC. No more horrible stuttering and freezing during games, especially the opening of Mario Kart, which is flawless now. Sadly he hasn't *yet* implemented the zfreeze hack but he said a few hours ago that he's on it.

~edit~

I did try a zfreeze-hacked build and Rogue Leader runs like ass. Oh well, back to waiting a few more years then

It starts off 60fps and then as soon as you face certain directions it drops to 40s. I tried the Tatooine training map and as soon as you start racing with Biggs and Wedge it's more like 25 rather than 60. Definitely not playable here (2500k @ 4Ghz)

If the team stays dedicated on the project i would say that it will take half a year or some 9 month before you can start to play the first games.

I don't know, I didn't continue as once I saw the shit-ass performance in the Tatooine Training mission, I closed it down and didn't go back. I'll load it up and give it a try ... HOWEVER! You're not trying the build from my link, are you? That doesn't have the zfreeze hack. You need to find a modified Dolphin build with the hack applied Smile I'm using "4.0-4029-dirty"

~edit~

Yes, it works fine. No more camera cut off and you can see/control everything, though the "targeting computer" view is broken.

Performance is okay when there's no scene changes, but when the scene changes Dolphin has to recompile all the shaders and it ends up stuttering/lagging and the audio goes reallllllllllllllllllllllly bad. This is why the custom build from my post above would kick some serious ass, and I'm hoping the Dolphin team merge some of Ishiiruka's changes. He's added time-stretch sync'd audio, so that it doesn't crackle and break when the framerate drops. He's also added PHENOMENAL new shader compiling code, so that it compiles in the background and doesn't cripple performance.

In the zfreeze build? Default games options and the following graphic options;

Backend: Direct3D
Fullscreen: 1920x1080
Aspect Ratio: Force 16:9
Enhancements: 3x Native (1920x1584)
Anti-Aliasing: 0
Anisotropic Filtering: 16x
Scaled EFB Copy
Per-Pixel Lighting

Hacks;

Ignore Format Changes
EFB Copy to Texture
Fast Texture Cache Accuracy
UNTICK Fast Depth Calculation

In the standard, non zfreeze-hack, build.. the one I use for normal play;

Well nV shader cache is enabled but it doesn't seem like it's the same thing in Dolphin, they work differently. Any non-custom build of Dolphin has the same constant stutter and hitching during shader compilation, but the new one? It's great, smooth as butter.

What does? Rogue Squadron or the emulator in general? Rogue Squadron won't work properly on any release from Dolphin-Emu.org as none of them yet have the zfreeze hack. It will most likely "run" but you won't be able to see more than 2ft in front of your ship grinhurt

It's amazing how fast Dolphin has progressed of late, especially in comparison to PCSX2 which has stagnated quite a bit.
