I bought a dvd player had to give my name etc, next time will refuse and see if i can still buy the item. A lot of shops do this these days.
I also get a bit paranoid about device drivers my camera / printer all want me to register just cos ive installed the drivers. Some dont even ask before they send their site some message but the firewall picks it up.
The software's usually a POS too.
Sony using rootkits to cloak their activites, u dont even know what else u have installed.
Whatever next.

Technically (in Canada anyway), u dont need a SIN (Social Insurance Number) Number, so providing ur name would be optional i'd think. in canada, u can be a sovreign(sp?) citizen - ur only have to obey major laws and such. If you own both the Title and Ownership of ur vehicle, speed limits dont really apply. When u buy a car, u have to ask specifically to buy the Title, not just ownership, like most do. Cuz if u just have the ownership, ur basically renting the title and all the shit that comes with it (road laws) from the Government. U'll still get a ticket, but when u go to court, it will most likely be thrown out.
Still, its a pain in the ass being outside the system that much. Well, unless u have $$$$
