Ahh. I guess I have been watching anime all wrong.
Is the release of blu-ray usually same as for tvshows/movies after they are done?

I guess I will watch Akame Ga Kill and Attack on Titan then and wait until the uncut version of Tokyo Ghoul gets released.

Just watched Trigun. While it was entertaining, i wanted to punch the goofy way too good main character Vash, (Will never understand why the Japanese just have to have saintly main characters) he was hopelessly annoying. Absolutely horrible introduction with the first episodes, it was just plain silly and quite frankly, pathetic. Funny thing, in one of the first episodes he broke someone's neck.

thats a pity. i thought by the end of trigun, his cheesiness was pretty well explained, made sense and made the character interesting.. made him who he was... and the fact he was given that over the top light-heartedness so that it could be taken away from him as the story got progressively darker was also kinda the point... i really loved trigun. definitely one of the most interesting character arcs ive seen in an anime.

I started watching Shinsekai Yori after finishing Attack on Titan. I stopped after 3 episodes. So weird and so boring... I don't understand what the hell is going on in this anime.
Now I am watching Psycho-Pass. Seems "alright" so far. Kinda reminds me of Ghost in The Shell.

Shinsekai Yori is not like a typical anime. It's different, certainly not for everyone and it takes a bit of time to get into, but personally I loved it. One of the cleverest and most original visions of a future I've seen.

I watched Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun after a 2 year hiatus from Anime and I'm literally every 1-2 minutes. It's so damn funny!
Very light hearted and endearing at the same time. Very rare for me to like each and every character in a show. Everyone should give it a watch.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Btw its based on a manga which has currently 59 chapters. I think the anime covers the first 22-28 chapters. Soo, if you dont mind reading then read the manga |
Yeah, I had read the first few chapters 2-3 years ago and then decided to wait till it ended to read it in one go. Btw the anime covers the manga up to chapter 45 while removing/adding a few things.
Yondaime wrote: | ^Thanks for the tip, watching the first episode and I agree, it's pretty funny and lighthearted. I had prejudged it as some average romcom shoujo thing, so this is a genuine surprise! |
The funny thing is that while the the title includes the word Shoujo (referring to the lead male character being a Shoujo manga creator), it is in fact Shounen.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Parasyte.. Holy shit what potential. It's a real shame they pretty much failed in my eyes. It basically feels like a love story with all the other stuff in the background, especially after the first 7 or 8 episodes. I hoped the main character would become more and more.. well.. Detached and badass, but the emphasis on keeping him together with that bore of a girlfriend keeps him grounded and conflicted. Additionally every single person he meets keep saying stuff like "Are you human? are you a monster? are you made of steel? Are you really Izumi? You're not the izumi i knew OVER AND OVER AND OVER etcetc because he doesn't show much emotions. Well, this is just a device to keep him grounded, and it's pretty stupid writing. Many people are more detached and don't show much emotion compared to other people.

You know from manga or something? I've only watched 13 episodes. Really like it, but it needs to start changing, else it'll become stale as frozen shit. Like how he's conveniently always alone when he needs to fight.

Yep, read the manga. Twice actually^^. Was kinda weird actually, since the manga uses such an old character design compared to the anime.
actually.^^

Akame Ga Kill bored me personally. First few eps had promise, but later on it became very predictable and it didn't carry nearly as much emotional impact as it tried to - mainly because of rather shallow, badly developped characters that didn't dare to move away from cliches they were based upon. Even during the "powerful" moments I wasn't moved at all.

I completely agree with the characters. Typical shit anime females, surprised they didn't include a lolicon in this harem esque group, and it also bad humor (the snappy humor, don't know what it's called). First episode was a bit fucked up, let's hope it holds up.
Edit: a few minutes into episode 2 and we have our lolicon char. Screw this shit, i can't fathom how people can watch this garbage.

Tried Kill la kill because i was recommended watching it by multiple people since i enjoyed Tengen toppan guran lagan. Well, it has the same absurdness, even more so i guess. Sometimes too much, but thats not a problem really. Problem is after 5 episodes the setting is boring me to tears. Seems like they've set up 25 or so epsiodes of beat them up in the same schoolyard, and how is that fun? not fun at all. Tengen toppan had the scope, it expanded all the time, and thats one of the reasons i loved it. And the fanservice doesn't do this series any favors.

Just as a reminder - both Aldnoah Zero and Tokyo Ghoul returned for their second seasons. The first one, sadly, dissapointed me for the first time with its entry episode, but it's still a good show to watch. The second one... well, it's kinda the same, but consistently darker
Other things:
Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis - 7/10
Nice art, very good animation. Story-wise it seems shallow at first, but gets somewhat better as it goes on (third episode is freaking fantastic). One of the better fantasy animes in recent years, IMO. Even if that ain't your cup of tea, it's worth seeing just for the animation.
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso - 8/10
I've got absolutely no idea what pushed me to give this a try, since animes like these aren't usually my cup of tea. But I don't regret it. It's... it's good. It's a romance (slash romantic comedy) and about fourteen year old kids to boot, but somehow I just couldn't stop watching. There are some cool, symbolic scenes (it uses stuff like light/shadow, weather and colors to project characters' moods - and more than moods), it's touching and very well designed. Fittingly enough, it also has pretty good music. It dwells too much on some stuff, though, takes a bit too much time to resolve some arcs. Still, I can kind of recommend it if you're looking for something different then usual action/comedy stuff.
Fate/Stay Night - Unlimited Blade Works - 9/10
Another beaufifully animated show. Other than that - it very closely follows the game, so it's great. There's an adequate amount of mystery and fighting, some comedy here and there. It's not finished (rest will come in April), but as someone who knows how the story'll go, I can tell you: the whole ride will be worth it, trust me My score is kinda based on that assumption though, I can't really see this first part as a complete creation.
