A friend of mine who lives in Thailand really wants HBO Go and he's ready to pay (in advance) for your main monthly subscription in exchange for an account.

Some useful links in case you don't know what's it all about:

PM if interested. Thanks.

Why the fuck would anyone want this? HBO probably put the streams for Game of thrones for example first after it's been aired in the US. They do this in Scandinavia, and i doubt they'll do it differently here. Just as well download the show.

A stranger who pays for your HBO, yes. And there's nothing you can do with an HBO Go account apart from watching it online and on mobile devices. So what's to be paranoid about? Scratch Head

As to 'why' - this guy is a smart home (or whatever it's called) fan and a total nerd, he streams everything everywhere (Hulu, Netflix) including a special toilet-room only tablet and his car and just despises downloads. New stuff from HBO doesn't hit Netflix soon enough for him lol.

Sounds more like a nutter in all honesty. Ah well, live and let live and other shit like that I guess.

Yeah, he's a total nutcase, but still a nice fellow. For example he prefers Netflix because of the catalog features - all nice with descriptions, screenshots and shit. A downloaded episode file is dull Very Happy

He actually sounds like the perfectionist that should set his own 'netflix' up. Tell him about the wonders that is: Mezzmo or any other streaming platform tbh.

Has everything he wants and most stuff can be automated so he doesn't have to deal with dull episode descriptions.

Bit surprised he values Netflix over customize ability.

Yes, this too, actually. He had it all set up - automated episode retrieval, XBMC etc, but stopped downloading anything upon moving to Thailand.

Does it have to be US HBO?
I think we could arrange something for a Dutch one if he's willing to pay in advance, i don't use it and don't plan on using it, but there is something we could work out Smile

Since he doesn't want to pirate I guess this isn't an option... but I recently discovered Plex. It's brilliant, I can hang at the gfs place and still watch everything my server downloads at home; it transcodes to all kinds of devices to preserve bandwidth and even saves your watched progress for each movie or episode.

The difference to Mezzmo is that it's free, and that you access your server through the plex.tv website, so you can stream your stuff from anywhere.

yeah we don't translate audio here. I bet comercials are in Dutch, but the shows themselves are in English with subs (i don't know if they can be disabled, but my guess is yes).
Premieres etc are 24 hours after the US ones aired.

Price is (after first few months discount) €14,95 per month. Don't know if they limited the app for the ziggo network only tho.. all those things should be asked to someone with actually already HBO on this network Razz
