Rifles are the first guns you get, it seems to need to complete Pact with Rais first to trigger them, some of the sidequests make you find them as well, they're all dropped from the militia guys.
As for pistols, commonly found in police vans, north of the tower in the tunnel are 4! with very hard locks, following the highway you can spot another as well and there are a few more scattered across the map in some places. They're pretty distinct from the other ones, so easy to spot.
Upgraded knives (Zippo) plus the throwing dupe glitch, insane, just slicing through those zeds now.
@khaze Had the quest for a while, just found one now, Jaffars quest with Hanson gives you one if you search the rooftop for it.

There's a house near the shoreline with a sign outside with something like "Take all you want, I won't need it anymore." and inside you can find a handgun which I think will always be there although as with most other items it will scale with your level.
(It was a blue colored "German Pistol" when I found it.)

Ah, ok. Iv lockpicked 4 police vans without finding anything, so I stopped.
A few vans (But this might be level scaled too.) have "Very hard" difficulty locks and these nearly always contain a loot bag called Stolen Loot or some such (Gives a couple of jewelry pieces for selling.) and a military or police rifle.

I'm playing with a Phenom II 955 @3.7 ghz and gtx 680 and it runs well at 40 fps average ( 1920,medium texture and shadows, AA and HBO on)with distance set to 30 %.ciao
Hot damn the PS4 version runs with the view distance slider bellow 0%.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."

"a phenomenon."

And if there's no gun there's likely to be ammo or a rare (blue, even purple) weapon that is pretty good!

Yeah, when I said nothing I meant no pistol Mostly find ammo and decent meele weapons. But because they are very hard I would think the loot was better, thats why I did 4... but guess ill do some more if im able to find a pistol
I can certainly say I only found some after progressing with the story a bit, before that I was at the same stage as you, finding nothing but trash sometimes. Memorize the locations, it's worth going back there multiple times even with zeds around
Game runs PERFECT with CPU-Control. Even in SLI mode
NOW I can start enjoy this game!
But the game process doesn't have all cpu affinities or are you just unchecking them and then checking them again?
I just did like the description in that video above
Quote:
1. Launch CPU-Control.
2. Launch Dying Light.
3. When the game is running, switch to CPU-Control, search "Dyinglight.exe" right click on it and select "All CPUs- 4 CPUs - 1+2+3+4".

Well, I'm playing at 1280x1024 with usualy no AA or HBAO, so I hope for 30 fps
Anyone unable to play as the hunter? I do the tutorial, try to invade and it keeps giving me an error about not able to connect. Also, it only gives me at most 2 available sessions to invade, mostly just one, sometimes none at all.
The best I ever managed was one successful connection, that got derailed immediately when everyone left the session.

Game is pretty level scaled, I'm at a point now where even the regular survivors are nearly always carrying the so called sacrificial short swords or the kopesh sword.
(Not quite on par with a katana but still really good weapons.)
I have i5 4460 and a gtx760, vsync at 60hz/60fps, it drops to 42 most of the time, and stays on an average of 50's...the stuttering went away once i dropped textures to medium, i guess its my 2gb vram.. but its still badly optimized.
Ughh the game has completely stopped working for me.
Was playing fine. Then the save games stopped working (using crackfix). And now when it launches, none of the intro screens are skippable and when they play out nothing happens but black screen.
This is a new level of nope for me.
Spoiler:
Would never happen with a console game!
Corsair 750D :: 750W DPS-G:: Asus x370 PRO :: R7 1800X ::16gb DDR4 :: GTX 1070::525gb SSD::Coolermaster 240MM AIO::
Edit: Anyone can confirm they run this game fluid on AMD processor? I only see intel people reporting in that certain fixes work.
my GF plays this on a PhenomII x4 with a 660ti,frames are alright most of the time.there are these often reported hickups but i get them on my i5,too
the only annoying thing are soundbugs.sometimes it sounds streeeeeetttcheeeeeeed likkkkkeeee guuuuuum but in the next sentence, everything is normal again.last time i heard sounds like that was when i tried to emulate final fantasy 12 on psxe2 with a dual core (terrible frames)

Happened to me, only 1 core was beeing used by cpu control. so i uninstalled that crap..
I played in Co op and didnt open the specific door but im 95 percent certain it should be on the water side. You should see a small opening of the door towards the floor level and maybe crouch to open?
Edit: Performance wise i have exactly the same as this user with the same hardware. Fucking disgusting wtf
