Thanks will do. Already have a ton in the pipe.
Seen Planetes (probably the one I enjoyed most) and Knigts of Sidonia (great art/ frame composition)
I tend to look for a sci-fi flavor more realistic settings and gore horror over magic. But cannot argue with quality.
pretty much the first thing i tell anyone starting to watch some anime.
it would also fit what you re looking for, its sci-fi flavoured but mostly looks pretty realistic and like its set in current times.
Digging through this gold mine. If Akame Ga Kill was average/ bad then i´m in for a blast
Well, I have very high standards for anime since I've been watching it for a very long time. It takes something special in an anime for me to like it. That said, I can see why some might like Akame Ga Kill, it is fairly well made.
Still though, yeah, if you haven't seen much of what we've recommended in this thread, you're in for a real treat! And as always, I'll just throw in this recommendation JUST IN CASE you haven't seen it yet:
Hajme no Ippo - Just see it... Easily my favorite anime (and manga) of all time. Don't be discouraged by the art style (I was before watching it), you'll come to love it.
regarding ippo, i ve only see the original season when it came out, while i loved it i didnt continue watching the ovas afterwards since i felt that they will one day drop it like most long shows and i ll have to continue with the manga.
are they planning to complete it in anime form, ie. are there more seasons etc. planned?
Not sure it's known. But honestly, if you love ippo, watch the 2 other seasons. It's 50 episodes of awesomeness. Well, 4 or so last episodes of rising was just fillers, but watch the rest!
I gave up on Planetes after that fucking annoying girl who took complete control over the station the second she got the job. The dead guy who wanted to drift in space, and the family who consented to it, and that fucking girl had to stop it because SHE felt it wasn't right. I was glad when her superiors said it was their own fucking decision, but towards the end everyone started thinking it was wrong to send him to space. Then i knew this anime would piss me off to no good end. First episode pissed me off too.
Gave kill la kill another shot, and i must say i kind of enjoyed it. While it wasn't anything that special, it certainly surprised me to the end.
Tokyo Ghoul..... Why was i ever talked into trying this?? Generic piece of shit anime. How many times have i watched this shitty main character in different animes? Of course he's the saintly ghoul who doesn't feed on humans, and can apparently survive on nothing compared to the rest. They had some sequences in the start where he was desperate for food, but now they're just avoiding it altogether. I need to stop watching animes made by manga creators with sub 100 IQ who can't for the life of them create something original.
Mh , the manga is already finished (64 chapters). If we take the usual approach it would mean that 1 anime episode covers 2 manga chapters , meaning the anime would need 32 episodes to cover the whole thing.
Now lets say they packed more content into 1 episode, so they would probably be able to shrink it down to MAYBE 26, but more like 28 episodes.
Heres the problem though. The normal manga chapter has like 20 pages , whereas the Parasyte manga sways between 30 and 38 pages. So , its safe to say that the Parasyte manga is at least 1/3 longer than the usual so instead of 64 chapters we get more like 84-85.
By that count we would get 42,5 episodes. If they pack the anime with content then my best guess would be 37 episodes for the whole thing (Like Death Note).
37 is an unusual number in the anime buisness though. Most seasons either go for 13/24/52 episodes. If they gonna stay true to the content, without skipping stuff or adding fillers to strech it then something around 30ish episodes would be my guess.
Edit : Oh well .
""Parasyte: Sei no Kakuritsu" TV Anime Has 24 Episodes"
Dunno if they can air a 13 episode season after a 24. If they are going to finish it i guess they have to add fillers then :/ I hate fillers because THEY NEVER capture the essence of the show and feel out of place.
Watching "Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin" and i must say it's pretty damn good. Some quirks here and there and especially after the author said he focuses on authenticity, so i sometimes wonder if he's genuinely dumb or the anime creators taking certain things into their own hands. Character progression is pretty much identical to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann thus far, but regardless i love it!

based on a manga which is still ongoing (121 chapters) . If the anime is done, they probably pulled an alternate ending or smth.
I usually can't get into manga. Terrible visuals and confusing battles. Berserk is an exception. Much better visuals than your average manga, but can be very confusing battles.
Information
Type: Manga

Chapters: 64
Status: Finished
Published: Nov 22, 1989 to Dec 23, 1995
says it's finished
I meant "Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin"
Also finished. It finished 7-8 months before the anime finished. It has regular interviews with the cast also had one with the manga writer so i hope they managed to include everything.
It's pretty awesome. I initially had a hard time accepting the inherent stupidity of the people in the show. A rape victim feeling hatred towards the rapist and for that reason is branded a psycho. It's such a dumb and flawed system, yet viewed as perfect in the anime. Honestly don't get it. But it's still pretty awesome, and i can't wait for more!

isn't it only viewed as perfect because it has to be viewed that way or you'd run the risk of getting branded a criminal again? :P
It's like automated brain washing..you gotta make yourself believe it's perfect and everything is just dandy or you're fucked.
Likot Mosuskekim, Woodcutter cancels Sleep: Interrupted by Elephant.
I think it's a bit more complicated than that. In the anime we mostly get to see the ugly side of the system, but the thing is, there are actually large numbers of people who are perfectly happy with it. There are some images of that: when Akane goes to eat lunch with her friends, for example. There always were, are and will be people who feel relieved when they don't have to make decisions about their life. When they can just follow rules and be as happy as they allow them to be.
In a broader spectrum, it really is a perfect society... of a sort. Everyone has a place in life, a source of income adequate to their abilities and one simple rule to follow: don't let your hue get dark. If it does, you'll be removed for the good of others - even if you're not responsible. That's the price of stability and peace you're enjoying. It sounds ridiculous to us, because we're used to our individuality, personal freedoms, justtice - also seen in individual sense. And it's actually shown in the anime - people who remember the old world do have problems with readjusting (the old dude with cyberarm - can't remember his name - is a perfect example). But imagine always living in a world like this. Imagine it being... normal. It's said at some point in season 1: "The key to bulding a perfect society lies in understanding the fact that perfection can't be achieved" (I'm paraphrasing, but the sense is there).
