I really like reddit. Point me another "internet filter" that will group news, science, humor, interesting facts, books, movies, games, programming in one place.

I wouldnt say its so much of an "internet filter" as an "Internet garbage can" that everything gets tossed into, sorted by type of trash, and you got to dig around in that can to find the stuff that you want to take home pushing the other stuff to the side.
Cant really call it a "filter" when its motto is: Reddit is a website about everything.
Might as well just be "trying to be everything for everybody".
Thats my problem with it.
You like cats? sure there is a general reddit for cats..full of 'anything vaguely cats'. cat pics, cat shit pics, drawings of cats, people talking about their cat, cat food, cat mating habits, cat advice, etc.
I want just black cat pics for example. So I have to go look for a sub reddit of just what I want. Even then its everyone posting interpretation of what that is, and what interests them in it.
Now have I to decide if I want to sub to "only black cats with one eye and walks with a limp cat pics" subreddit that also has people talking about such cats and not just pics. Or the "black cats winking at you" subreddit. Or go digging around on it to find one that fits what I'm after using its horrible horrible interface and post structure (the few times I did end up on it 2 minutes tops before I gave up on its interface and layout of topics).
The amount of time I spend looking for that one subreddit that isn't filled with 80% crap vaguely related to what I'm interested in, I could just google and find a very specific website just for what I'm after.
I think every time google sent me there, It was one post, out of like the 1000's in the subreddit that was what I was after. the rest was useless text to me.
Not saying its a bad place, just nothing at all useful to me personally.

In these online communities the majority/ general consencus is king due to upvoting and downvoting. Problem is, majority of people aren't smart or interesting. They're just desperate to relate to *something* and feel part of a group, an ... army *cring* *twitch* *eyetwitch*
Yeah, some sections are amazing. I really don't know what everybody is talking about when I see wars against the reddit fags (?) in youtube. It seems like there are some really toxic sub sections but I never encountered one of those.
dick faced duck has spoken damn when did that avatar craze came out ... i seen some black balls with a face , on one there is a fapping duck ...
and one more thing if that joke , Microsoft now took close to heart ... that i played on those communities... and that's why dx12 is a patch for Xbone i will just
can someone pls explain to me wtf happend to reddit in the past 24 hours ? r/all is going apeshit about fatpeople and i cant find any "normal" source of information about it.
I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?
Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
Is that an American thing btw?
Fat people were always teased... but it looks like its a lot more serious over there.
And usually doesn't stay with teasing but people being rather vile.

its not all that serious on 'harassment', got to remember we got a lot of fat people. so its not like a rare albino that people stop and stare at when they see one they are everywhere.
If anything it seems people from other countries rib us about it more than we do ourselves.
And i both agree and disagree with his points. I agree removing it doesn't help, it doesn't stop people from making fun of fat people.
But I disagree with his whole "It just makes it worse for fat people when strangers laugh, or make fun of them to lose weight".
Like talking about hed get online and read fat jokes, or see meme's about fat people and feel bad, and go eat..Thats just choice whining if I ever heard it "I CHOOSE to go online, i CHOOSE to go look at the subreddit, I CHOOSE to subject myself to it, and I CHOOSE to go eat to feel better". How is that the peoples online fault you now feel bad for doing that?
I mean Im not the model of fitness myself, I could stand to lose 15-20lbs myself.
But Its not the rest of the worlds job to help motivate you, a stranger you never met has no obligation to take pity on you for something you self inflicted and totally (majority of the time), caused yourself, that you keep causing for lack of willpower.
Anyway, to wander back to my point as it relates to the subject on a whole..it seems people now want the internet on the whole, a place full of strangers, to be a world wide support group for whatever it is you need support for.
Its the internet, if you need support it HAS places like that, but don't expect all of it to coddle you and your needs.
To me its not about free speech, or lack of it. It that the internet is a reflection of the world as a whole, just in a condensed easy to access format...dont expect to go around and not find things you dislike in it.

Reddit is exactly what I hated about high school: cliques, circle jerking, people falling over themselves to get noticed, a lot of posing, a LOT of meaningless bullshit, discussions are usually pretty shallow and pointless, etc. etc. I hate group mob mentality and that's exactly what Reddit is. I hope the controversy recently causes it to start to crumble.
