Quote:
Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain includes a chicken hat item that will let you skip sections of the game that you find too tricky.

The downside, of course, is that Snake is forced to look ridiculous while doing so.

Images of the item were first shown by Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima during a Christmas Day livestream for Japanese fans.

Publisher Konami has now provided clearer pictures of the item, and explained its purpose in detail.

The choice of a chicken for the hat's design is meant to imply that players are just that - a chicken - if they choose to use it

While it is a nice feature for the casual gamers, i don't think previous MGS games were difficult enough that it became frustrating?

Don't underestimate how bad and easily frustrated some "gamers" these days are...that's why we have those casual/story modes in games where the games get so easy you can't possibly lose.

I guess this is just kojima's take on it.

The patch is out of beta. Smile

http://steamcommunity.com/games/311340/announcements/detail/252534223781888361

Quote:

This is the liberty we've won for ourselves: Steam Forums!

We've incorporated the now player-tested, Big Boss approved Beta test into an official patch. Now without signing up for the optional Beta process every user can take advantage of the repairs, safeguards and improvements made to the release version of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Make me feel alive again!

The patch notes are small but significant adding the following:

- When the Camera Y Axis is set to Reverse, the camera movement with the mouse will reflect the change
- Under some conditions, there was a "Low Memory" error a few minutes after launching the game. This issue has been fixed.
- When some USB devices were connected the game didn't launch. This issue has been fixed.

Additionally the patch also has incorporated some community identified bugs:

- Certain gunfire animations weren't properly displayed. This issue has been fixed.
- The animation for empty shells ejecting during gunfire wasn't properly displayed. This issue has been fixed.
- The Windows Screensaver, under certain conditions, interrupted gameplay. This issue has been addressed.

Please do inform us if you run into any new errors or problems with the addition of this patch.

While no additional major patches are planned for implementation we’ll continue to evaluate the discussions here and work to make adjustments if necessary.

We never felt truly alive unless we were staring bugs in the face. Thank you immensely for your assistance in reporting concerns and helping us confirm them fixed.

-KJPDev

This updates data_02.g0s so if you use any mods you will need to re-add them again by unpacking the new archive. Smile
(Or just back it up and replace the patched version if you don't need whatever they fixed that required the archive file to be updated.)

There's really not much left to fix.
And they'll look into reported bugs, which I suppose if they'll consider serious enough. the'll address.

Konami sales are higher on PC than on XBOX ONE:

Quote:
Konami have released their latest financial results revealing the Japanese publishers titles have been thriving on the PC platform.

According to Konami, sales have increased by 8% on PC which places it ahead of the Xbox One, but still lagging behind Sony's PlayStation 4 current generation console. Despite being behind the PlayStation 4 in sales, Konami can now say the PC is certainly a viable platform for their videogame content.

Konami states that the PC now accounts for 10% of total game units sold, a huge increase from last years 2%. These figures now put the PC head to head with Microsoft's Xbox 360, a now ageing last generation console and ahead of all handheld systems.

It's only natural that a series that has belonged exclusively for the playstation for so long will utterly dominate the sales there.

These are not MGS sales, they are sales of all the games they released in that period.

I guess 9% is MGS sales and 1% is PES 15. That said, the PES department will get some money to just port the PS3 version again. With the money left Bhatti will buy a new next-gen vibrator (for himself) and he will give lollipops to all PES devs as a reward for their hard work (porting the game).
