I went to a car meetup (tuning gathering?...noooooo idea what to call it). Let's just call it "The Fast and the Furious - Real Life".

It was my first time going to such an event. It was fuuuuun, I was a bit worried tho. Most of them drove like they were being chased by dragons. Some of them had illegal parts...you saw them fleeing as soon as the cops showed up. There were some sweet rides, like the Murican cars, 3 Nissan Skyline GTRs and the old one <3.

I was just there to enjoy the whole thing and to take some pictures. It was so fucking cold >.<....

Aaaanyway, I got invited to some secret car / tuning meetings and to some other big ones, because they liked my pictures. Dunno, they aren't that great IMO ...especially compared to the ones from _SIN_ !

Have you guys been to events like this? Did you guys see any weird stuff happening like someone getting arrested for racing and stuff? Very Happy Very Happy

sweet

been to a couple of those, nothing that big

and here there aren't any illegal mods, unless you put an engine not usually put on the car (can't register it then)

the cops only show up if people start making noise/racing and someone complains over phone

mostly the meets happen at gas stations next to a long straight stretch of boulevard, and up to around 50 cars (the underground ones)

the legal ones are scheduled on a calendar for each brand and are usually made on an old military airfield, with services (health/fire/cop dept.)

what mods are illegal in your place?

Well, I am no car expert, but I know that some stuff is illegal, even if you have lights at the bottom of your car...that's illegal while driving. some of them had those.

ye, they made noises...lots of noises. one of the GTR's was so fucking loud and that SSX too...or whatever that car is called.

Don't be daft and keep the racing on track btw.
Seen a lot of those types that think they can drive... but when you see them take a corner or shift my heart bleeds.

Went twice to meetings like that, and let's just say the majority is not my kind of crowd. Felt the same when I was DJ'ing... loved that hobby/work... didn't like the people around it much.

Still not an excuse to do racing on the street... Seeing how much you fight in those parts (Cool Face) I'd assume you'd have abandoned industrial terrains and airfields you could convert in a track for a day/weekend.

there are plenty, but the asphalt there isn't first grade, as it has not been maintained for ~20 years

and yes occasionally they pull over some hot shots, write them a "reckless driving" ticket and fine them, then let them go

Yea, there is no way that I would race with my car, lmao Very Happy. It would hurt soooo much if I'd get caught by the cops or if I crash.

I just watch, laugh and take pictures

Who builds a 900 hp, 7 sec AE86? Laughing

Not a GT86? A 2JZ GT86 would be sweet as hell though.

Btw, I sold my SR20 after I dyno'd ~680 hp with it Smile Took 2.4 bar of boost and E85, but it kicked some ass. Will be trying out an LS1 with a BMW 6-speed now, already have the engine, waiting for the transmission.

At least you can drive fast as fuck on the autobahn If I go above 150 on the motorway (and are caught) I loose my license Sad

Anyway, lots of meetings like that in Norway too. The police look for illegally modified cars and tinted front windows. Those who don't drive often get drunk and act like idiots... thats how the police arrive at the scene -.-

as far as I heard - the autobahns are pretty congested, so you can only drive unlimited during the night

here 140 is the limit, but there is +10 headroom from the police, so driving 150 is accepted
most people with new cars drive 180-200 (where the road permits lol), and only slow down near speed traps, as they are known and there are gps/maps of them

also our speedtraps are very old, they don't catch 250+, and there are maniacs that go that fast to see if they'll be caught

if they catch you = 500eur fine and 3 months without license

Isn't that the correction rule?
Most of Europe has it but contrary to what most people believe it's not -10 but -10%.

the +10 headroom?

police radars have ~3-5km/h margin of error, so they set the mark speed +10 of what's allowed on the road, because if they stop you doing 93 in 90, you can fight the penalty in court

I heard somewhere in Scandinavia, they will fine you even if you go 91 in 90 Laughing

Used to do this a lot when we were younger in New Zealand.

Every Saturday night without fail there would be a meetup of 100+ Cars.. everyone would line their cars up each side of the road in the middle of a industrial area and there would be drags.

Cops would show up and everyone would fucking split hard and then spend the rest of the night just cruising in big convoys around the place haha Very Happy.

Policed cracked down pretty hard and it kinda died ou.t

You DON'T want that crap Laughing The RX-8 has terrible engine. Why you think they go so cheap and no one bothers to mod these engines? Even that fucker Mad Mike gave up on his RX8 because he had tons of problems with it. The head appears to be too weak. The engine overheats a lot too. Basically you can crack your head in less than 30 min. Meanwhile people with JZs, RBs, CAs and SRs can abuse those fuckers all day long without a single issue lol

because the engine comes from RX-7, there is no RX-8 with 4 rotors
and without modding the engine is very fine one
I love the very constant feel of it, the insane throttle response and the nice acceleration
