Just bought a PS4 and got the game almost for free, was the same price as a PS4 with no game (€399). Anyway almost played like 2 hours. Game looks good that's true but nothing that really amazes me like metro or other games did on PC but whatever don't really care much for gfx any longer. So far the game plays fun, has alot of QTE but nothing too bad or annoying. Don't really get the hate for the loads of cutscenes, so what some games aren't like other games. Games like these are fun for a change. Wouldn't have bought the game at full price tho like most games anyway max I will give out on games are €40-45. I play almost any game that are exclusive to consoles wii, wii u, xbox360 and PS3, two where easy to hack anyway u know which one xD.

Just an FYI -- Redbox carries this game. I just picked it up. It's $3 for 24 hour rental. You can go to their site and search boxes near your by putting in your zip code and then reserve it for pickup. Seems kinda rare though, as only one box had it available (unless everywhere else was rented out).

I dont understand the bad reviews. It doesnt deserve them at all. The QTE's, short single player and linearity I can overlook. Its a gorgeous looking game though and really is like a playing a movie! The letterbox doesnt bother me as much as it did in The Evil Within, maybe since I got a bigger TV since then lol. I always intentionally fail the QTEs to see what happens next although its more often than not death lol. I really wish the campaign could be played through in coop multiplayer. So much wasted potential there in my opinion. Its a solid 8/10 in my opinion and Ive only played the first chapter so far!

A lot - a lot - of stuff pisses me off in that game, like:
- endless unskippable cinematics (already mentioned)
- gameplay time extending tricks like disabling running in loooong empty corridors or streets
- same tricks with making you look for some documents in a very big room
- same tricks with pointless one-button 'parkour'
- corridor levels with visual walls on the sides all the time to save gfx drawcalls for a smaller scene
- primitive and glitchy stealth
- copy-pasted lycan combat
But still somehow I really loved it. Big hopes for sequel, it should be like GEoW2 over GEoW1, much better.

this seems absolutely terrible, like i predicted last year.. i've never understod "it plays like a movie!" type of games.
A movie has tons of advantages over a game and a game has tons of other advantages over a movie. Mixing the two gets you: a half assed movie / half assed game. same shit with the telltale "games".

This thread makes me cringe so much. You all keep going "I don't understand the bad reviews" and yet each and every single one of you also points out the same shit: lots of long cutscenes, lots of QTEs and relatively little other gameplay in what is a fairly short game overall. Nothing wrong with that in itself, since you guys seem to be enjoying the game...but 70 Euros or 60 US dollars for what essentially is nothing more than an elaborate CD-i game? Come on :/
And some of you wonder why the hell there are so many shit games. It's because of gullible consumers like you willing to shell out 3 times as much for a third of the content compared to a decade ago. That's why. Just think about it for a second, is this game really worth the same amount of money as say, GTA V or Infamous? Just because it's pretty? And that last one is subjective anyway because while I love its style, there's far too much blurring of various types going on (motion, vaseline, mis-use of DoF as usual), taking away from that brilliant design.

it's none of your business where people spend their money that they earned. and your anti console generalizations are getting out of hand. maybe first look at how fucked up PC gaming really is. Evolve is a colossal DLC ripoff with abysmal business particles and it was #1 sold game on steam for like 2 weeks, even with all the negative reviews right there on the same page as BUY button. time and time again PC players, that you hold in such high regard, prove that they aren't any better than console players.

And it's those same people that bought Evolve and went "it's a bit boring", regretting their instabuy. Sorry, but that doesn't fly with me. Where the hell did I mention the PC, PC games or PC gamers in any way? You're the one who brought that up, as usual. In fact, I drew a comparison to a couple of PS4 games, ones that I think are well worth the money. As for my remark about people buying shit games at inflated prices, that does go for PC gamers just the same. That's why I didn't say "console gamers" or anything of the sorts. Same goes for the motion blur/vaseline/DoF remark, that happens in games in general. Dying Light is a great example of how to fuck a game's looks up by using those techniques wrong.

I never said anyone's an idiot for liking this game. There's plenty of games people like that I absolutely hate (I can't stand Need for Bumpercars, Burnout, Gears of Brown, Halol, Killzone and there's loads of people who like those - they're just not my cup of tea). I said people are idiots for saying "I don't understand the bad reviews" and yet they keep pointing the exact same flaws themselves over and over. And those reviews are based on the game costing $60 or €70. What everyone has said about the game in this thread combined with the intended retail prices lines up perfectly with most of the reviews for once.
Again, compare what you get from this to Infamous, GTA V or to pick some games closer to this one, Tomb Raider or The Last of Us. Not one of the people in this thread, yourself included, would give any of those games a 10/10 - probably barely 9/10 for one of them (you probably put TR at 9/10, right?). And yet, this one gets 7/10 or 8/10 from most at the same time. That just doesn't add up, sorry.

At least unlike you I don't barge in, making up all kinds of shit I've just pulled from my ass. I got called out on what exactly? Because nothing from what you "called me out on" I actually said. Again, I'll just forget about the dozen consoles I've owned over the years, or the fact that I preordered my PS4 as soon as it was up for pre-order here, unlike you.
I am trying to figure out how I'm a PC elitist though, since most of the games I do play on either PC or PS4 tend to be games that give me great gameplay. If it looks gorgeous on top of that, bonus points, but for me gameplay comes first. I'm not a graphics whore like you are. |

Oh well. I will be returning the game to Amazon. I kinda feel bad, used the DLC code and stuff, but what can you do. 
At times, I was wondering if I am watching some sort of mini tv series than actually rather playing the game -,-.
Even Beyond Two Souls has more action

I played the game for about an hour and a half before I realized I'd rather be cleaning my apartment than playing the pos. I think some of the positive comments may be because people are so starving for a new game that they are willing to overlook the glaring flaws / poor design / frustration. And the fact they spent money makes them even more forgiving. It's not the worst game ever, but it's not even close to a "good" game imo. Hope this doesn't come off as trolling, just giving my 2c.

To be honest I'm having way more fun with this game than Infamous which was a bore fest to me. Yes a lot of content, but repeating one and boring missions...
So I guess to each his own...
But I like games that are like movies so... maybe that's why

infamous got boring pretty fast, yea.
it was very pretty but the gameplay was very basic and repetitive, there was only 5 hrs of content stretched to 15 for first playthrough thx to all the asscreed chores.
