Do you need to have the main game completed to play it? I finished FC4 on PS4 but I want to play this on PC.
Today I didn't even need to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day. (c) - Ice Cube

Finished "Valley of the Yetis", it's similar to Escape from Durgash Prison in that you have a smaller area to explore with side activities that unlock new upgrades but this also has a short storyline.
Once you reach the radio station is essentially boils down to you completing a mission and having to survive a night assault, this is usually two or three waves of enemy groups trying to plant bombs on one of three targets which you have to prevent.
(Each of these missions uses a different night weather, nice touch though this activity gets a bit repetitive and you have to do it five times.)
The storyline was a bit weird with this group of worshipers trying to find some relic and the ending, well you'll see but to say something about it I didn't like how it ended though the final mission was pretty fun otherwise.
As this is set in the Himalayas the area looks a bit different though it plays pretty much the same and it's also not very large but there's a number of places to explore and also landmarks though you see pretty much all landmarks as the story progresses.
EDIT: Some screens.
I liked this particular night assault mission, it's the last of them and it's a bit more hectic plus it looks really good with this time of day setting.

And this was the final area, as such these contain spoilers.

Anyone know what the 5 new weapons are? Every search just yields "5 new weapons" but not actual info/names. Thanks in advance!

Five new weapons?
You mean the pre order bonus content?
(Or was it the digital deluxe bonus?)
If so those are signature weapons, Sandman (Silenced M1911) Ripper (M249 I think it's called, armor piercing bullets.) the harpoon gun if you have the Hurk pack and I think there was a sniper rifle and big game rifle too but I don't remember their names at the moment.
(The rifle looks like a double barreled shotgun, you can get a normal version too but the signature edition has gold trimmings and does more damage, both fire sniper rifle rounds though not as accurately as a real sniper rifle but they are amongst the strongest weapons in the game.)
EDIT: There might have been a silenced shotgun too.

Ah ok. I was wondering if that's what they might be actually. Thanks JB!

I think I know what most of them are named now.
Driller - PKM machine gun.
Sandman - M1911 silenced pistol.
Elephant Gun - Double barreled shotgun firing sniper ammo.
(The non-signature version also fires sniper rifle ammunition but it's weaker.)
Harpoon Gun - Fires harpoons, very powerful but slow.
(Part of the Hurk missions, ultimate reward for finishing them.)
Butcher's Machete - Only available at best-buy as a pre-order, don't think this is available elsewhere yet, alternate machete skin.

Far Cry 4 Inc. Valley of the Yetis-CorePack
Does this work on a skidrow release of the game?
I know it says its based on reloaded crack but I tried to install 1.9 update from FTS and it worked on skidrow.

Did this stupid Vehicle Takedown glitch happen to anyone else? Can't unlock the skill even after fulfilling the conditions and now getting the "skill at maximum level" nonsense.
Adding insult to injury, I had defeated a retaliation army and unlocked chain takedown only for it to be locked again thanks to this shitty glitch.
Searching on the net this seems to have been a problem for others as well but no proper solution for it anywhere
1 and 2 are still amazing.

So I finally beat the game (story, not 100%), chose to side with...
Spoiler: |
Sabal. I didn't like the guy, but Amita seemed somewhat worse, with intentions to just take the place of Pagan doing his criminal activities (smuggling, drug trafficking), plus she wanted to ignore or destroy a millenary culture for the sake of the economy and "progress". I still let her go when ordered to kill her.
|
I chose the lesser evil, but I would have liked some better options. On the other hand, Pagan. I just...
Spoiler: |
...decided to shoot the motherfucker in the face and on to the credits (I knew I could wait)
|
I watched the other endings on YT, and I stand by my choice. Anyway, the story was decent IMO (nothing too special), and I enjoyed reading those diaries and memos you could find everywhere.
About the game itself. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by it. It felt like a substantial improvement over FC3, especially in world design and in taking advantage of it. The outposts were so much better designed and varied despite the fact the enemy A.I. still needs to get worked on, same for ramdom places and landmarks. Loved pretty much all the new gameplay mechanics (especially the rock climbing, swinging), and also noticed a greater attention to additional subtle details compared to FC3. Also, the side activities were generally more meaningful, even though Ubisoft still got a lot of room to improve in that aspect.
Anyway, I wouldn't mind another FC game 2-3 years from now. I would like to see them bringing back Jack Carver (who was mentioned by Hurk in this game by the way ), but I'm not sure if that's even possible
In the meantime, how about Blood Dragon 2!

I agree, it's one of the very few cases of DLCs done right, almost like a standalone mini FC4, Farcryception.
The snowy setting was a very welcomed change, because my biggest complaint about the 'standard' game was that level design and environments/world lacked variety (except for the good -but separate- Himalayan missions).
I'm really curious to see how they'll continue this series, some meaty changes/upgrades to the formula will be definitely needed to avoid the increasing deja-vu factor. Though with Ubi involved, changes more often that not are disruptive, so I'm not really sure I want them to go too naif.
Blood Dragon 2 indeed would be the dream. I thought a proper full-fledged sequel was a given, but alas! GUbi pls.
