we apologise for the lack of news that you were expecting. As you might know, last week we had to deal with a technical issue that has requested all our attention. Right now we are working on last details for the new release, so tomorrow you will know everything you need about Assetto Corsa 1.1 and the Dream Pack: release date, pre-order, price.
Thank you for your patience, we are pretty sure you will appreciate the news we are preparing for you.
Meh, I find the ring a bit overrated. It might be fun when just doing laps or for endurance races (where keeping a consistent pace is more important than fighting for positions, so people usually just let others through), but it's not the best for actual on-track fights, there's just no room for that.
There's a reason why F1 left the track 30 years ago and it's not going back any time soon.
I'm more hyped up about the cars, the GT-R GT3 and Mclaren in particular.
Its not "one" track. This one track is as long as 4-5 normal tracks.
So you get content like 4-5 tracks and 10 cars. And thats okay für 10 or 15€.
The "work" that had to be done to create this track is enormous.. and this has to be paid too.
Bah, to me crap tracks are others.
Tracks with no fantasy or ideas for turns/straight configuration.
Tracks such as Hungary, Spain, Bahrain, China, and most of the new ones (>2008-10).
Stuff like 90° turn, straight, 90° turn, straight, 180°... gimme a break.
Instead, the fact that u can't pass on tight tracks such as monaco is due mostly to dumb-ass-Polistil-modern-technology cars, not to the track configuration itself.
People like Senna were always eager to RACE (not lapping) on such tracks, when noADS+tightness+rainORdirt+otherpilots actually separated cab drivers from pilots.
Monaco was even harder to pass back then. Back part with swimming pool chicane was heavily walled, formulas were wider, and chicane after the tunnel was narrower. To overtake anyone was impossible.
Nordscleife is a different beast. You have a clear overtaking opportunity at the back straight, few more in it's 24h configuration, and then plenty smaller ones elsewhere. In real racing the ones beside back straight, or on new track, are very rarely taken because the track is so dangerous that one mistake could kill. In virtual racing it's another story. A dumb driver will still ruin ones race, but when you have people on it that know what they're doing, it becomes an amazing experience.
Finally got around to downloading the yarr demo. Been wanting to try it out to see how it is with my old wheel. 20 damn gigs. I loved netkar so I'm sure I'll like this. Won't have time to try it out until Tuesday though. Damn work getting in the way of my fun.
Well, fuck. I'll have to dig around and try another bin provider next week. A "few" errors with some of the files and I'm 16 blocks short of repairing.
Really? Nobody is going to say anything about the fact that the game doesnt feel anywhere close to being FINISHE, yet they are already selling a DLC, the selling point of which is a track that is a must-have for every racing game ever?
Now I honestly feel like a fucktard for buying this over Project Cars.
I feel bad for buying this, even though I have pcars. I hope that modding will be done properly on this game.... so that I can get the content from this dream pack for free
@Pumpy and Shrako: yep, that's the reason why I haven't pushed the button yet. The game is extremely good when it comes to the physics, and even the visuals are clean and attractive, but the contents at the moment for me are underwhelming, especially the circuits (but also the "career" is not exactly great, to put it mildly).
And this is the problem, the modding scene is active which is awesome, but the quality mods are very rare at the moment (most of the additional tracks are either ugly rfactor conversions or plain inaccurate), and even the cars aren't too well made, with some exceptions of course. I guess we need some more time, years perhaps.
As for the DLCs, as usual it's a very bad habit. I may be biased because I'm a renowned DLC "hater", but this plan in my opinion is quite frankly a not-so-sexy move. It had to be expected though, simulations in general are basically The Grand DLC Paradise, and this one makes no difference sadly. As long as the audience accepts it and even thrives for more dee el sees, there's no hope for a change. *sad trombone*

There will be no modding in pCars. No modding support at all!
If there will be modding, then it will take time and in the first months it will be very very difficult.
So dont expect good modding in pCars.

If you are really into Sim-Racing the physics, the moddeling of the tracks and the FFB are the most important things.
If there are Flags or waving persons at the side of the tracks does not matter at all when you are focused on racing with ther players.
Yes it would be nice to have something like this but its not important for the whole gameplay and experience.

The good is, right now you almost dont need content-mods. There are some good mods as you said, but right now there is enough content to play with.
Most people download and install mods and then they try it for 2-3 times and after this they dont use it again..

DLCs are not a bad habit as long as the content and the price is okay.
Those DLCs secure a long income for the developers so that they can support the game in a long term too.
And really... the DLC was 9,99€ (now 14,99€) for 10 Cars and track that has the content and the length of 4 tracks. Thats more then fair in terms of "price".
But i hate some DLCs too. If they want 4-5€ for every car and for a normal track 10€.. that would be really really silly.
The problem with simulation is, that their sales are by far not as high as some AAA action games. So if the Devs intend to support the game for a long time they have to create more income over time.
If they wont do this they have to cut down the number of employees and this also slows the development of the game much more.
So not every DLC is bad... but DLCs have to be fair in terms of pricing and DLCs should not come every 2-3 months. If there is a DLC every 9-12 months for a fair price and such an amount of content like in the dreampack, then its more then fair.
If you haven't played ac in the past 5 months you should really give it another try. No it doesn't have ai pitstops or a proper career mode but the tire model and AI got a massive overhaul. In particular the tire model. It plays a shitload better then it did before. Always felt to me like the grip levels were to rigid and snappy whereas now you can really feel a transition between traction and no traction. Not to mention some of the new cars and mods out this year. Some of the mods put out now are better then what big companies do. Just check racedepartments highest ratest stuff from this year. Its nuts.
Maybe not worth it if you don't have a wheel though I dunno. Now if one of these sims could just do a decent career mode like forza or whatever that would be greeeeat.
