What level are you?
Positioning with those things is always a pain in the ass because of the teleporting. A Cipher can be handy, with Mind Blades (especially before it gets nerfed in the upcoming patch) and their knockback attacks. And as I mentioned, fire attacks are useful as well.

Wait to see if the patch comes out in the next few hours, as they said it was planned to. If it doesn't, there's probably no harm starting a playthrough over the weekend as long as you keep the known bugs in mind. For example:
- Click and drag items on the paper doll to equip, don't double click
- Don't equip the Drinking Horn of Moderation or Talisman of the Unconquerable items
- Don't minimise tooltips during the tutorial
- Don't modify a companion's equipment on the map where you recruited them
- Might be best to avoid Raedric's Hold

When fighting teleporting foes, bunch up your mates, so they can't engage from behind.
If you love the shade fights, wait till you reach the Cean Gwla fights. Just had one of those in the dungeons, 5 Cean Gwlas (who paralyze your team) and some Animats. Had to try like 3-4 times, until I beat them.
Blinding and charming work wonders on the ghost type mobs.

The crafting vs. exploration bit of the game is simply the best I have seen.
Only named items have a chance of having extra attributes, so exploration is the best option to get grand items. And through crafting you can apply some more damage and accuracy later on, making sure named items are the best throughout the game.
You can get a named item, that suits your build, and upgrade it. Thus exploration is key to getting your build up and running, crafting can keep your items buffed, so they don't lose relevance.
This is the best design I have ever seen, because it is VERY fulfilling.

And don't play a ranger. Or if you do, don't go in the tunnels under the stronghold. And a few other places.

Yet he still misses most of the time and if he hits, it's only like 3 damage | The tank's job is to be a meat shield rather than do a lot of damage, trap mobs in engagement and soak up hits, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Try equipping all your melee guys with a mix of arbalests and arquebuses as secondary weapons, and opening combat with a combined volley on a couple of enemies to take them out straight away. After the initial volley, switch weapons straight away and charge into melee. For back rowers, I have one with an arquebuse and the others pistols as their primary weapons, and have a chanter cycling through the reload speed and fire weapons chants (although I think both of those are getting nerfed in the patch).
Additionally, if you have 3 or more melee guys (including ranger pets), you'll often run into pathfinding issues in cramped places, like doorways and tight corridors, where someone can't get into melee range and will spaz out, so a ranged weapon in the secondary slot is useful backup for those situations.

I think Caesar, Alexander the Great, Napoleon and others wouldn't mind "cheesing it" given a chance That's actually something that somewhat defines a great military leader - to find a way to "cheese it" or come as close as possible to "cheesing it" so that you win and loose as few as possible

Wait for GOG to post it. They typically take up to 6-24hrs longer than Steam to post their version.
