@harry_theone
Can you do some *real* tests for the d-pad, please? Specifically how it feels and reacts in comparison to the near-godlike PS/SNES d-pads and in emulators/fire-from-my-fist fighting games? <3 I really need a completely non-biased (read: non MS fanatic) opinion.

@sabin: dpad is much better as the 360. gonna get a one controller too when my last 360 dies (3 dead, one more to go. well not dead, but over the years i replaced the stickrubber on all and now they are just worn out and sometimes show a direction even in center position). wireless receiver is coming this year too, waiting for that

im still using a dual shock 2 connected via adapter (shows up as 360 pad which is nice) for mortal kombat and any snes emulation stuff etc.
and yes, its not hard to make a better dpad than the 360 ^^ friend had his controller over so i tried it, and i liked. since i dont used it long a cant say 100% but i think as i said i will get one too when the receiver is released

I've been using my PS3+BetterDS3 for years and it's great ... and now I've just seen that DS4Windows has profile options just like BetterDS3 \o/
http://ds4windows.com/
That settles it. DS4 it is and it's my birthday next month so time to add it to my wishlist

What is this talk, I don't even
Can you fly plane in GTA with throttles and sticks?
ps.
No offence meant in anyway
I'm just not following gamepad scene at all so I've no clue what you're talking about (DS4 sounds like something from Nintendo though)

@sabin: DS3 Controller sucks, DS4 are better but if you are used to the stick placement of the ms controller stick to them. i even think the way u use the left stick ends up in a more precize aiming
but as we are talking about gta, controller is needed only for flying. hotswap was confirmed by a german magazine a few days ago

Yep, from your comment before, I thought I might have been missing out on some other functionality that BDS3 provides, but DS4W is great.
It works so well that I've worn the damn thumbstick rubbers off from all the use it gets on my PC. |
Aye mate, for me I made quite a lot of use of BDS3's profile options, switching between xinput/dinput and even having customised button layouts for improving older games. With a 360 controller, or any standard xinput, you're stuck with the default MS layout unless the game lets you change - and even then, many games saw the dpad as a hat switch rather than separate inputs, which some older games don't let you map to. It was a PITA but BDS3 lets me change all that whenever I want, without compromise, and now it looks like DS4W has the exact same functionality.
Happy!

I've had PS3 controllers for years, I don't think they suck at all, and I'm used to the twin-stick layout ever since the PS1. MS's staggered layout is fine if you're not using the d-pad all that much, but I do.. I play more emulated/older/2D/etc games than I do 3D/TPS ones.
~edit~
Anyway, on topic; the US release unlocks in 20 minutes, yes? According to PCG, Pacific US unlocks at 4PM (16:00) on the 13th of April.

Ofcourse, we seen it with every high profile game or steam sales.
There's login, download (not only the patch, expect last minute buyers),unlocking and everyone having to log into Rockstar Social Derp... It's more sensible to expect it being fucked up than to say: Steam has great servers, nothing will happen.
